Update from 10041 to 10049 sticks on downloading

Downloaded the update but got ran out of disc space, so I've freed up 65gb. There's no option to restart the download or check for updates. Any ideas?

    Hey Charles

Try clearing the download cache of Windows Update, that might solve the problem for you. In Windows 8 it worked, haven't tried it yet for Windows 10

    1. Open Elevated Command Prompt
    2. Enter the following command: “net stop wuauserv” and hit enter.
    3. Enter the following command: “net stop cryptSvc” and hit enter.
    4. Enter the following command: “net stop bits” and hit enter.
    5. Enter the following command: “net stop msiserver” and hit enter.
    6. Enter the following command: “ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old” and hit enter.
    7. Enter the following command: “ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old” and hit enter.
    8. Enter the following command: “net start wuauserv” and hit enter.
    9. Enter the following command: “net start cryptSvc” and hit enter.
    10. Enter the following command: “net start bits” and hit enter.
    11. Enter the following command: “net start msiserver” and hit enter.
    12. Reboot your system.

Let me know if it works, Im curious.

Yuri, I've tried your suggestion since I'm having the same problem as charles123, no problems doing the commands, then I rebooted. I believe it downloaded TP 10049 since I have 3.12GB more on my VHD than I had before but it still hangs up on install saying it needs 0.0MB and to free up some space. There is 12.7GB used of 30GB on my VM. I clean installed 10041 on a 10GB VHD with no problems.

I am running TP 10041 on VMware Player 7.1.0 build-2496824, so far no problems with the TP's until 10041 update to 10049.

Thanks for your suggestions Yuri, looks like I'll have wait for the iso, or try an make my own although the 10049 download isn't all in one place so I'll have to review that procedure to see if I can do it.

Users with this problem have added more disk space and more memory. I would suggest adding 2 to 3x more than you have now until you get a good dl then you can add it back if you want to. Good luck to you,

I might try that, I just changed to "slow ring" due to the problems I'm having, I found this post on a Windows Blog

UPDATE: You cannot enable Hyper-V on this build. If you have Hyper-V already enabled and you upgrade to this build, Hyper-V will continue to work. If you have Virtual Machines hosted in Hyper-V on your PC running Windows 10, you will want to move to the Slow ring and wait for the next build as this build breaks the ability to run VMs.
Although the VM information "If you have Virtual Machines hosted in Hyper-V on your PC running Windows 10, you will want to move to the Slow ring and wait for the next build as this build breaks the ability to run VMs" is lined out in the blog maybe there's something to it.

Charlie, I changed the virtual drive to 50GB in the VM, and TP 10049 installed. That resolved the problem, count me as another user that had to increase the drive space. It was increased from the original 10GB to 20, then to 30 with no change in the original problem, increased to 50GB and problem fixed.

So for me I had to keep increasing from the original installation size for TP 10041 of 10GB to 50GB to finally get TP 10049 to install via Windows update.

Good job Charlie and thanks for the suggestion, I'm always up for the simplest, least hassle thing to try first.
