Yes, that looks correct.
Well it worked to a point. I booted from the USB stick and started the installation. Unfortunately the options for language and keyboard etc were all for English US, nothing else was offered. I continued, thinking that I could change it all once it was fully installed. Unfortunately this is not the case. I tried to change the time zone but the only options available there are all United States.
I did not notice when I was downloading the ISO file that any options for the area etc were available. I will now have to go back to see if the correct download is available. Before I go ahead and do this, does anyone know if there is a way that these settings can be changed please?
Right folks, the good news is that although I have installed a US version (language, keyboard time zone etc) it is a 'clean' version with all of the rubbish out of the way, and so this has enabled me to use the Media Creation Tool correctly and without any hiccups or problems. I was able to use the MOUNT option as suggested by NavyLCDR and to get the file onto my USB stick. I will now do another install to get me back on the straight and narrow.
All's well that ends well. Thanks again to all those with an input to my problem. Sorry if I've caused any stress!
Update to all of my earlier problems. After once again downloading the latest Media Creation Tool, I was able to transfer the ISO over to my USB stick without any problems (using the MOUNT option suggested by NavyLCDR - see post #36 above) However, when I went into 'Boot options' and changed it to the USB stick, the system still would not boot from it. However, I was able to do the reinstall from the USB by clicking on setup and everything worked fine and I now have a clean version on my pc.
Does anyone know why the system won't boot from the USB when asked to? Is it something that I can correct. Could it be a faulty stick?
Are all USB sticks Flash drives or is that something different? My USB stick is shown as a 32gb Cruzer Blade
If everything looks good and running good, now is a good time to make your Complete Image Backup, using a program like Macrium Reflect and storing it safely on another drive.
Do you have other usb sticks to test ?? Could try using another usb stick to see if it boots. Using any bootable program.
Hello OldMike65, I intend to purchase a different make of USB stick to see if that will help. I do have a paid for version of Macrium Reflect which I will put to good use once all is OK. Thanks again for all the help.
Just now I have burnt the ISO file to a verbatim DVD-R and that seems to be fine. I have had a look at the content on the DVD and that seems to be fine too.
However, When I go into the Boot Options by pressing F12, the machine will still not boot from the DVD. Is there anything that I haven't done correctly please?
