Would you like to pick ONE of your threads and explain where you are and what the problems are?

You have 5 open at the moment.

I was a bit confused, that is all. What happens? Where do you get to in the install?

I see from your picture you have set rufus to UEFI - you could try creating it as mbr partition scheme as shown in point 7 here USB Flash Drive - Create to Install Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums perhaps if you are not able to install.

Please update your specs also with your HP model number - that might help if someone has the same.

If this is your machine: HP Pavilion 13-p120nr x2 PC then you have a legacy BIOS boot, not UEFI.

HP is soooo backwards - they have the UEFI diagnostics, but that does NOT mean UEFI boot. They touted having UEFI sine 2009, but.... only some machines actually use it to boot. Most HP boxes only have the diags, which can be put on a stick.

Rufus settings: MBR for BIOS or UEFI & NTFS should work.
DVD install media is always my preference, no issues with UEFI/BIOS since the File System on a DVD is UDF.

What happens when I restart is that the pc just boots to the normal Win8.1. The light on the usb drive flickers like it tries to read it but then it just goes to normal boot screens & then win8. I also tried when the pc is on going to control panel then recovery options then choosing the 3rd option restart pc and boot from usb drive when I try this way is when I get the Boot failed message.

Very helpful reply. I'm going to try the middle choice 'MBR partition scheme for UEFI computer'. When I tried NTFS with 'MBR for Bios or UEFI comp' it didn't work. The tuff part is the pc has no dvd drive & I don't have a portable plug in DVD drive.

Did you try remaking the USB as MBR?
