TenForum's installation guide says 'you will need to disable or uninstall any 3rd party AV or security program' I'm a little concerned about this and just wanted to confirm if it's safe to do so. And does every security program need to be disabled - I have several, my AV plus ZoneAlarm firewall, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit, WinPatrol and Zemana AntiLogger.

As long as you are not surfing porn/pirate software sites or plugging in USB sticks you have found on the street while doing the upgrade then disabling your 3 party security software would be pretty safe.
I see you just edited in a list of the software and I'd definitely remove all before starting an upgrade.
The advice to disable third party security software dates back to the early days of such software. That advice is even more important in 2016. The purpose of security software is to prevent unauthorized system changes. Doing an OS upgrade makes system changes on a massive scale. The chances of a conflict is very high.
The Windows 10 upgrade software knows how to safely disable Windows Defender and some third party programs. But the latter can be problematic. Any security software must have safeguards to prevent it's being disabled by software methods, otherwise malware would do it. Normally security software can only be disabled by the user, and then only after appropriate warnings.
To avoid problems you should disable ALL third party security software.
The majority of regular members here don't run any extra security programs. There's a reason for that. They don't replace safe user habits the biggest of which is don't click on something that you are not absolutely sure what it is you are clicking on.
I have 10 computers in my house, none with extra protection on them. I get about 1 malwarare infection per year and it gets on one or two computers at the same time. A disk cleaning with CCleaner and Windows disk cleanup gets rid of it.
