    Had to reset my computer and lost Windows 10


    My computer (which had Windows 10) crashed and I had to completely reinstall Windows starting with Windows 8. I have just finished putting Windows 8.1 on my pc but now can't figure out how to get 10 back. Advice???

    Try doing an In Place Upgrade Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

    It works the same for a repair of Windows 10 or upgrading to Windows 10.

    You should have been able to do a clean install of Windows 10 without re-installing 8 and 8.1

    nope. It started back with the original software that was on the computer when I bought it which was Windows 8

    To do a clean install, you create a bootable usb stick using link below, boot from it and skip key entry.

I recently reset my Windows 10 (latest update) PC and selected Keep My Files. When the reset had finished my Documents and Downloads folders were gone. Is this behavior by design? Would the Reset procedure have moved them to some backup location?
