Installing Windows 10 using SD card

Hi all, apologies if this has been asked many times before - I couldn't find anything conclusive, which leads me to believe that it's a non-starter, which I find hard to believe!

I have a 32gb tablet running 64 bit windows 8.1, Intel celeron 1.6ghz, 2gb mem ram - it has a single micro USB connector which, like a smartphone, is for both charging the tablet and data transfer/usb peripheral attachment etc.. I'd like to upgrade to windows 10, problem is there isn't enough space on the internal drive. If I attach an external drive, that does the job, but the tablet runs out of juice long before installation is complete. I can't charge the tablet at the same time as attach the external drive because the single port is one and the same. It does have a 64gb SDXC card however, but at the initial win 10 download stage I get the message that there isn't enough space on the internal drive, and unlike when I had the external drive attached via USB, it doesn't offer the option to install via the SD card. Can anyone advise me how to get around this? How can I upgrade to windows 10 without using the USB port as I will need to occupy that for power. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for the reply NavyLCDR, but it looks like that cable doesn't pass through power to the host unit ie the tablet, or have I misread?

It will pass power to the host. The question then becomes if the tablet will allow charging while in OTG mode. Keep in mind most of the comments will be about android, not Windows. There was this in the comments:

The cable shipped the same day I ordered it, and received two days later. When I first plugged it in my N7 did not indicate charging, but it does charge.

I can plug things in to my Miix 2 while charging!
I got this to use with my Lenovo Miix 2. Whether loading software from an external DVD or just connecting a keyboard and mouse while at your desk this is a must have for a Windows tablet (though I have read that it doesn't work with some).

Works as intended I can charge my device and still use the USB slots at the same time

One key would be to make sure you are using a high power, at least 2A (amp), charger connected to second micro-SD port on the cable. My Windows tablet has a second power connector with it's own power supply, so I don't have one of these cables myself.

NavyLCDR, that's a good point, most reviews do refer to Android. It's only a few quid so worth a try. Thanks.
