It sounds to me like maybe you are just copying the ISO file itself to the DVD. The ISO file contains an image - and it is the compete image that needs to be burned to the DVD - not just the ISO file. Scroll down to Burning an ISO about halfway down this page:
How to Mount and Burn ISO Images in Windows 10

When you insert the finished DVD and use file explorer to see the files and folders on it you should see several files, including a setup.exe file and folders like sources and boot. If all you see is an ISO file on the DVD then you did it incorrectly.

Can't you use a usb flash drive instead - faster and more reliable?

Right now after reading your posts and problems with this clean install, either you actually might have a bad dvd drive or like NavyLCDR posted you are not installing the Windows ISO correctly. The Windows ISO does not take up much space, any DVD that's any good should work as long as it can take 4GB of files. Windows 10 ISO is just a little under 4GB. Here is a screenshot of the files that should be on your dvd disk. (USB stick would be a better option thou.)

Yes, if your current OS is Windows Home, you can only then you cannot change to Pro. You can only upgrade to the version you have now. Home for Home or Pro for Pro.
