Media Creation Tool did not generate current ISO win 10 version

Yesterday I decided to download WIN 10 Pro 64 bit with the media creation tool to generate an ISO file as I needed to do a fresh install on several machines. I had assumed that I would get the current 1511 version but I got the previous 10240 version . Now I know that MS pulled this November update after a dew days of release but then re-instated again on the 24th Nov.
My broadband speed is "pathetic" so I had to download the 1511 upgrade once the initial installation was finished. This meant 18 hours had to elapse and I will still have to download the TH2 upgrade on every machine---no thanks---will stick with Win 7 !

Anyone get any idea why I got the old version of Win 10 ?

Did you download a new version of the Media Creation Tool or by any chance use an old version you had hanging around? Perhaps the old version downloads the old ISO. It is only a guess as MCT downloaded 1511 for me several times since December...

    That is hard to believe.
MCT will only give you the most current version of Windows 10.

OP probably used an older version of MCT. If you hover cursor over mediacreationtool.exe in file explorer, the popup screen either says 10240 or 10586.

Does that sound like he was using an old version of MCT from his own file explorer ?
Where can one download an old version if it was done "yesterday " ?

@davidhk, please use the "Reply With Quote" button so it is clearer who you are replying to and they get notified.

Assuming you are replying to me, sure, perhaps you can. You can download the MediaCreationTool.exe (at any time) and then you run it at any time.

When you run it, it downloads an ISO. If you have an old version of MediaCreationTool.exe that you downloaded in September or something then who knows what it will download. I don't, that is for sure as I deleted the old versions.

If you look at MediaCreationTool.exe though it (the downloader not the ISO) also has a version. Perhaps it downloads that version of the ISO.

    Like I said - I don't know. It is a possibility though.

Sorry, I forgot to click the Reply with quote button.
    I was replying to cereberus.

My argument was.................it does not sound like he was using an old version of MCT from his own file explorer .
I based my argument on the OP's opening statement...................

    davidhk,

The OP did not say that he downloaded the Media Creation Tool yesterday. He said he downloaded Windows 10 using the media creation tool yesterday. I could say exactly the same thing myself and get Windows 10 build 10240 today or tomorrow - I am going to download Windows 10 build 10240 later today using the Media Creation Tool. Why? Because I have a copy of the old build 10240 media creation tool sitting on my hard drive and it will still - for now anyway - download build 10240.
