Sheesh, Edwin, after a few gazillion installations of Windows as far back as Windows 3.1, I'm learning new things about setting up Windows. Always something to learn, and I may go back and give this one a clean install, just for curiosity.

Yea I'm not sure what happened but I just had to do startup repair a few times to straighten out booting into 7
I believe you can stick a fork in me I'm done with 10 until it's final and can be installed on 8.1's ssd

Issue that created the down fall is a missing boot manager in 10 that screwed up the bios priority
Simply caused by me forgetting to disconnect a charger from my machine that was in and I shut down 7,
Then inserted 10's hdd and machine would not boot
Not sure why a charger would cause all of this
7 is booting normally now so I'm not going to push my luck anymore with betaware

Hard to believe a little ecig charging would cause all of this but I do believe it was inserted in the same usb port used to install 10 with :/

F12 didn't even see either of the drives

I almost reset the bios to default but had no idea what other issues that might cause ?

I had something similar happen to me. I unplugged my Windows 8.1 drive and clean installed 10 on a second SSD. Plugged my Windows 8.1 drive back in and found my BIOS boot order was all messed up. Fixed that and tried to boot into 8.1 and got a repairing volume error message. That may not be the exact wording, was something like that. It then counted up until it reached 100% and rebooted into 8.1. Other glitches etc with 10 had me unplug that drive and just go back to 8.1.

I guess that's why I'm not attempting to do a dual boot on my desktop. I just don't want to mess it up; too much important stuff on it.

Running or installing another os on it's own drive isn't really dual booting per-say unless both drives are always connected at the same time,
Which is really the most perplexing thing about not having the reserve partition/ boot manager installed when the drive does not have any other partitions on the drive
Something really fishy about that :/

The other fishy part is why a simple usb charger would cause such a mess with either drive not being detected at all :)

I just downloaded build 9879 and have it on a bootable usb
I'll load that sucker without an internet connection and see what happens and if the reserve partition is created on the same hdd
It did in the past like to see what it does in the present

If nothing changes I may do VMware 32 bit'ers in the future for the current and newer builds my mother board isn't compatible with a 64 bit vm
Allot of people don't like the reserve partition but it's supposed to sort of replace the machines bios and mine are very old 2009.

I was correct build 9879 installed the 350mb reserve partition
