when you restore with macrium, it must be removing the Reserve partition...
Disk 1 still looks the same as in post 1

OP:If you clean install 10 on a blank ssd with no other drive attached, then you can restore C drive partition ONLY, it should work fine. No need to fix windows boot problems. Then you can delete partitions on disk 2.

All I restored was the C: partition, nothing else. Why would Macrium remove the reserved partition? Any way around this that allows me to back up and restore my C: drive so I don't have to go through a complete setup of all software and tweaks?
I wonder if using a different backup/restore program would work?

    I did that.

    1. Created a Macrium backup of C:
    2. Powered down and disconnected the two hard drives leaving just the SSD.
    3. Clean installed Win 10 Pro X64, deleting all partitions on the SSD and starting the install to an unallocated SSD.
    4. Restored C: from backup then ran fix windows boot problems in Macrium. If I don't do this, it doesn't boot.
    5. Reconnected two hard drives.

Results as shown. I didn't capture an EaseUS screen of the SSD before the restore, should have. If I get ambitious I'll try it again.

RIch, you might want to also do a screen cap of diskpart, select disk 0, list par while you're at it to supplement the easeus info.

Diskpart doesn't show anything useful that I can see:

    Code:
    >diskpart

    Microsoft DiskPart version 10.0.10586

    Copyright (C) 1999-2013 Microsoft Corporation.
    On computer: DESKTOP

    DISKPART> sel disk 0

Disk 0 is now the selected disk.

    DISKPART> list par

      Partition ### Type Size Offset
      ------------- ---------------- ------- -------
      Partition 1 Recovery 450 MB 1024 KB
      Partition 2 System 100 MB 451 MB
      Partition 3 Primary 232 GB 551 MB

OK. thanks - sorry, I meant more like when you first clean install (if you do that) and also a little bit because I don't know easeus and wasn't sure it would show an MSR (but I shouldn't be that skeptical).

    diskpart
    select disk 0
    select partition 1
    shrink desired=16
    create partition msr size=16
    list partition

I think that is what you need.....

    Doesn't work:

    Code:
    diskpart

    Microsoft DiskPart version 10.0.10586

    Copyright (C) 1999-2013 Microsoft Corporation.
    On computer: DESKTOP

    DISKPART> list disk

Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt
      -------- ------------- ------- ------- --- ---
      Disk 0 Online 232 GB 1024 KB *
      Disk 1 Online 1863 GB 1024 KB *
      Disk 2 Online 1397 GB 1024 KB
      Disk 3 No Media 0 B 0 B
      Disk 4 No Media 0 B 0 B
      Disk 5 No Media 0 B 0 B

    DISKPART> sel disk 0

Disk 0 is now the selected disk.

    DISKPART> list par

      Partition ### Type Size Offset
      ------------- ---------------- ------- -------
      Partition 1 Recovery 450 MB 1024 KB
      Partition 2 System 100 MB 451 MB
      Partition 3 Primary 232 GB 551 MB

    DISKPART> select partition 1

Partition 1 is now the selected partition.

    DISKPART> shrink desired=16

You may not shrink OEM, ESP, or recovery partitions, or, offline volumes.
The volume you have selected may not be shrunk.
Please select another volume and try again.

    DISKPART>

    Edit:
Should I shrink C: (partition 3) then create the MSR?

Use Win10PESE and use aomei partition assistant to shrink that partition 1..
then use diskpart to create MSR partition

Why shrink par 1? Shouldn't MSR be par 3?
