    Upgrade error 0xC1900101-0x2000C

I have made several attempts to upgrade my desktop from 8.1 to 10. Each time the install freezes at the "copying files = 3%" point. When I reboot the system returns to my 8.1 setup and shows the above code with this explanation. "Installation failed in SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation"

Can anyone tell me what this means and how to resolve the issue?

You are doing this from files that were downloaded to this PC and told you it was ready to install the upgrade ?

Meaning never received downloaded files from the Get Windows 10 app that appeared in the notification area ? Where did you download this ISO from ? Did you uninstall all third party Anti-Virus or security software prior to upgrade ?

These errors can be caused by ,
Incompatibility of hardware or software on the system
ISO that was created is corrupt, Damaged installation source files, need to recreate it
insufficient space on your C drive (system drive), limited space issue for upgrade.
Remove security and system utility software, Anti-Virus, as mentioned

Recreate the ISO, go down to step # 7 here https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2...tallation.html

The Get Windows 10 app does not yet allow me to upgrade but will notify me when an upgrade for my PC is available. I've tried all the other suggestion that you made and come up with the same error.
I am now downloading a new iso from this forum link.

    Fingers crossed.

How long has it been since you received the Windows 10 App and did you agree, reserve it for the upgrade and now your saying it was never ready to do this upgrade, but you proceeded to do it from a ISO ? Do you know if all was ever shown to be compatible with your system to upgrade to Windows 10 then ? Any notifications if you then reserved your upgrade about any system incompatibility ?
Be concerned if anything was incompatible or what exactly is shown for you, to then go ahead and do it this way through the disc.

As i do not know anything about system you are putting it on, no specs in your profile, as it is always best to fill in as much as you can, at least the make and model of PC.

I downloaded a new ISO and tried to upgrade again having stripped my Windows 8.1 to bare minimums. The upgrade froze at 3% and gave the same error message. I checked the upgrade app again and it said I could now upgrade so I initiated it through the app. That also failed with the same error message. I tried to download the upgrade through Windows update. That also failed. I am now resigned to stay with 8.1
