    Can't Upgrade to Windows 10!

    Hi,
I decided to upgrade my Surface Pro 3 to Windows 10 which seemed would be easy after reading all the advertising. WRONG. My surface pro is 128 gb and will only be one year old at Christmas. I made sure the updates were up to date and hit the UPGRADE button. The first attempt yielded the blue "Downloading Windows 10 / Feel free to use your computer" window and showed the percentage with the spinning circle. I ran this for over 3 hours and it still showed 0% downloaded with the circle still spinning. I have not had any trouble downloading videos, music, updates, etc. with this Surface up till this.
I exited and retried. This time I get a message that the installer failed or made an error and to restart the computer and run install again which I did with the same result.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and I am not that technologically experienced. Thanks. Tom

Use Media Creation Tool to upgrade to Windows 10:
    Windows 10

You want the blue box towards the bottom of the page that says "download tool now"

Or download the Windows 10 ISO directly from Microsoft Tech Bench. To make upgrade faster, I recommend to uncheck the "search for updates" box during setup. Let it upgrade to Windows 10 and then you can run Windows Update with the big difference that you can use your computer while updates download and install.

English language warning: "English" is English US and "English International" is English GB. Make sure you download the correct language or you won't be able to upgrade and offered a clean-install.

    Hi guys,

How can I check that I've downloaded the Windows 10 Pro x64 .ISO latest release 1511? The Windows site and Microsoft Tech Bench
both dob't mention the release version (or I can't seem to find it!)

    TIA & Cheers

This is the latest release as soon as it was available (I think last week?). You can also run a command to see which version and language the setup is, see this tutorial.

Thank you for your directions, I'll boot windows and mount the Windows 10 Pro x64 [DUTCH] .ISO in a virtual cd/dvd player and perform the command line actions in the suggested tutorial!

    Cheers

Beware there are other posts on this Forum showing last weeks update has been pulled from the Media Creation Tool web site. See https://www.tenforums.com/installatio...tion-tool.html
