Windows 10 professional 1511 update iso not available

Has anyone successfully clean installed the 1511 update of Windows 10 Professional? I see only Windows 10 (N, K etc) with the Media Creation Tool (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/windows10) and at the Techbench. I also saw documentation notifying that this download has both the home version and the pro version. That does not appear to be the case though. A clean install from that image always installs Windows 10 Home.

MSDN subscribers appear to have separate ISOs for the 1511 update of Home and Pro versions.

Any suggestions on how to download the 1511 update of Windows 10 Professional would be great.

Has your computer been activated with Windows 10 Pro before? The ISO does, in fact, contain both Pro and Home versions. When you do a clean install, if there is a product key in Bios for Windows 8 Home, it will automatically use that key to install Windows 10 Home. If you had Windows 10 Pro activated on that computer before all you have to do is go to the activation screen in Settings and change the product key to the generic key for Windows 10 and it will upgrade it to Pro.

If you are installing Windows 10 from a USB, you can also put a pid.txt file containing the generic Windows 10 Pro product key on the USB and that will force Pro to install.

Thank you for the quick response. You are correct on both counts:

    1. It is possible to upgrade from the default Home version to the Pro via the generic product key.
    2. It is also possible to use PID.txt in the sources folder to force the installer to install the required version.

For context, my computer came with Windows 10 Home and perhaps there is an embedded product key in the BIOS which was forcing the installer to install the Home version. I did however activate Windows 10 Pro by using a Windows 7 Pro license earlier.

I will mark this as solved.

Yes, and I was using the media at your link.

Interesting. In my case the downloaded ISO at certain stage explicitly asked me what I want to install - Home or Pro.

Apparently in your case that key in the BIOS makes the installer to skip that stage and proceed directly to Home version.
