trying to update by media creation tool

trying to update by media creation tool downloaded ok and created iso dvd.
on running i cannot keep personal files and apps it says
you cannot keep windows setting, personal files and apps because you have chosen to install windows 10 using a different language to the one you're currently using.
even though i made sure it was english uk i downloaded and checked disc it says english uk
any idea how to sort this
sorry forgot to put using win10 pro

From an elevated command prompt ("run as administrator" command prompt), run:
    dism /online /get-intl

That will verify what language version you have installed.

    there are two English ISO's

    one is EN-USA
    the other is EN- International

you downloaded the wrong English version for your current PC
