    Hi,

Thanks for that. I've used it before but not on a UEFI based system yet. I'll give it another shot then.

    Cheers,

Okies, to clarify, I should be fine if I partition off a section of my windows 10 hard drive and install windows 7 on it.? I do have a back up drive if anything goes wrong (A drive a ghosted windows 10 onto after I finished installing everything... which I will probably update before I attempt this).

Yes. Just be sure to pick the empty partition to install Windows 7 to and not your Windows 10 partition! I like to use MiniTool Partition Wizard Free for resizing/moving my partitions.

Thanks! I do have one concern that I posted in one of the other sections of this forum.. it has to do with resizing partitions.. It is under the hardware/driver section of this forums. I think I made a booboo earlier

Did everything go well during the installation of your win 7?
I am in the same situation, I have win 10 and I would like to install win 7 in dual boot.
I created the USB bootable for win 7 and I can boot from it but when the screen of loading files finish the computer freezes.
    Do you have any suggestion?

You can install Windows 7 to the same hard drive or to another hard drive.

After the installation you can choose an operating system to start (see screenshot below).

When you are in Windows 10, open Command Prompt (Admin) and type: bcdboot %windir%

If you want the Windows 8/10 style dual boot page (see screenshots below).

Genet, this is brilliant and so clearly explained. Everyone else says it can't be done but I followed your clear instructions and it is quite straightforward. I have referred to your solution in my question here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...=1453195687193

I finally managed to install windows 7 after making the bootable usb drive with rufus(MBT for Bios or Uefi and Fat32)
But when i get the bootmenu to choose between windows 7 and windows 10 and i choose windows 7 i get a error message up that it cant boot. What can i do to fix it ?

I found out the problem, and the problem was secure boot in the bios. I turned it off and it worked.

That's what I did with my new Dell inspiron Windows 10 laptop. I created a new partition on the hard drive and installed a newly purchased copy of Windows 7 to the new partition, however, there was a message that some thing was out of the suggested order. I'll have to review the message and get back. edit, I disabled secure boot in the uefi bios. Now I'm still on the windows 7 Starting Windows screen.

    Okay.

I got som..e games that refuse to run in windows 10. I have a legit copy of windows 7. So I am thinking about dual-booting windows 7, so I can play my old games again and only using the windows 7 OS to play old games that won't work on Windows 10.

So I just want to make sure I have this right before I do it. I don't want to mess up a perfectly fine and working install of windows 10 for an OS I left behind months ago.

In windows 10, partition off a unallocated section of the C; Drive that I have windows 10 installed on. Empty section of it naturally.

insert the windows 7 disc, reboot.. boot from Disc

install windows 7 to the newly partitioned unallocated section that I just made.

Once windows 7 is done installing, reboot

Now at this point, I assume a window will pop up before booting with the selection to either boot into windows 10 or windows 7?

If any of that is wrong, please let me know.
