Unable to run setup tool for Microsoft 10

Anybody else get this issue when trying to open the downloaded setup installer tool from Microsoft?

"Unable to open setup. Quit the tool, restart your PC, and try running the tool again."

I tried restarting as it advised, however, when I tried it again it still said the exact same thing. I also
tried deleting the setup tool and starting over again by re-downloading it, but I still get the same
    error message.

Anyone know what I should try to do to fix or get around this? I have Windows 8 and I'm trying to get the 64bit setup as thats what my PC is...

Hello bdrummen, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

If you mean the Media Creation Tool, then you could directly download an ISO file using OPTION ONE below to use instead if you like.

I would surely hope not, but it is dependent on your internet download speed and how busy Microsoft's servers are.

My internet is wifi, super fast. Idk, I think sometimes those download times they show arent always accurate..they usually go faster from I've experienced but of course that was with other downloads I've done where it said 20 to 30 minutes at most (and ended up being more like 5 min or less) but this is the first time I've seen 24 hrs lol Oh well, I'll watch it & see if it starts to speed up! Thx 4 ur help!

Oh hey, nonrelated issue..do U by chance know where in Windows 8 U can change ur computer sleep/auto-shutdown settings? My computer by default shuts down after like 5 minutes or so, it's really annoying. Is there a way 2 change this?

You should be able to set that in your power plan settings. :)

    Hey Brink,

My download of the ISO file keeps failing. I keep trying to retry but it fails about 1/4 of the way into the download each time. Do U know why it may be doing this?

Usually it will fail if the download stops or is interrupted.

Why does it even stop in the first place though? I have zero problems with my wifi connection
