Upgrading Windows SL using license from a different laptop?
Hi,
So my laptop is in dire need of replacing. Lots of things don't work anymore and after a lot of help from both here and sevenforums, i'm biting the bullet and replacing it.
The problem is I plan to buy a laptop in Russia, where I live and work currrently, as they are much cheaper than back home in England BUT they usually install Windows SL in Russian only. I require it to be in English.
When I attempted the Windows 10 update on my current laptop I downloaded the manual installer, and remember there being the option "Create installation media for another computer"
The laptop I will no longer be using has Windows 7 Home Premium. It was bought in England and so has all the language packs. I have gone back to 7 as part of the troubleshooting on this machine, I did a complete System Restore.
My question is this: Because I own a license for a Premium edition of windows 7 on this laptop, would I be able to use the "Create installation media for another computer" option to create an installation disc from this machine (7 home premium) to install on the new laptop (which will likely be 8.1 SL) , thus getting around the Single Language issue and being able to install in English?
Thanks
Matt
