Oh well , "fastboot" doesn't seem to be the only culprit in the freezing , just restarted and had a freeze again.
There are a lot of different solutions people have mentioned in this thread. Perhaps one may pertain to your system?

Arrrggggghhhhh! I see you have a laptop there. How's the battery? Less than 2 years old and working well?

Funny you should bring up the battery , for the last few months i have noticed that when i plug in the AC power cord the laptop does not always recognize it , it has always been plugged in with the battery installed by the way .

The battery seems to be fine , it never gets to a critical level because if it dips below 60 % all of a sudden the AC power cord shows next to the battery icon showing that it's charging .

Very odd , sometimes when i remove the battery and plug in the cord the laptop will not power on while at other times it will . It always powers on when the battery is installed.

When i plug in the power cord with the battery already installed you don't see a power cord logo , only when the battery gets to a certain level will you see the charge indicator .

This condition has never caused any issues with freezing in Win 7 though, only in Win 10.

Well, I'm still going to wait until I've fully installed 10 before I mark this as solved just to be safe. But, we are pretty sure this is solved, so, huge thanks to everyone who has been so patiently helping me, especially simrick. I look forward to using an OS that isn't outdated. Thanks so much, everyone.
    Awaiting the golden post...

Just for a quick update, I am currently on an almost perfectly clean copy of win7 with the media creation tool downloading the 64 bit version of windows 10 pro as I type. I only have one question left.
You told me to get rid of theme modifications. What about the alienware theme that comes with this installer for the OS? Should I leave that or delete it?

I can't believe it. It actually froze on me again. I got a lynksys AC1200. fresh installation. just the internet stuff with the wireless adapter, Opera, the media creation tool and iso and 7zip. That is everything. I deleted windows.old. I left the alienware theme on. I left the graphics drivers unaltered. What could I possibly have done wrong?

I am just completely out of ideas. I've fresh installed 7 time and time again, trying to install windows 10 on it. I guess the last thing I could try that I haven't is try uninstalling opera and 7 zip once i've got everything i need.

    edit: that didn't work either.
