OH. MY GOD. I GOT IT TO WORK.

It actually wasn't what any of us were thinking it was. Apparently, for some people, myself being one of them, the installation doesn't work due to some issue with how, what I'm assuming is fast reboot works. However, I found a workaround online: Any time during the installation that it tries to reboot, hold down the power button at the startup bios screen. Then turn the pc back on once it shuts off. This got it to work for me, and I'm so glad now. I was close to giving up. Thank god for that wireless adapter as well, because my other one wasn't compatible with ten, so I guess all's well that ends well.
I haven't been fully paying attention to the issues fredc has been having, me clearly not having the answers to his issues, but you guys can keep troubleshooting that for now. Now, I have work to do on setting up this pc. Moving user folders and program file locations and setting up new drivers and all that. But any issues I have with those can be taken to other threads, though, if any of you guys have links to tutorials on such things, they would be greatly appreciated.
Regardless, I'm just very happy to be using up to date software. Thanks so much for the help guys.

WOW!!! And where did you find that trick? We need the link on that!

Amazing! (sorry for only just answering now, I have not been around for several hours.)

Here are the tutorials for our forum:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/

    and here are the videos:

    https://www.tenforums.com/media.php

If you can't find something you are looking for, please ask. Chances are it exists in our sister-forums (sevenforums.com, eightforums.com) and can be adapted for W10, or updated for W10.

Great job getting this installed! Simply amazing. I am interested to read the link you found on that trick...will add it to the arsenal.

Yes, we will keep assisting fredc, no problem. But, I think a separate thread for his specific issue might be helpful. For now, if you don't mind, I think you can mark this thread as solved, so others that search for your problem will see there is finally a resolution.

I would now grab a couple system images using Macrium Reflect Free, before you start customizing, so you have something to re-load, should any serious errors come along in the future. And make sure System Restore is turned on, and make a few restore points.

Great job, Axington! Have fun with W10!

It was a very obscure place I found it. I was in absolute desperation looking up a specific error message I got, but I don't remember what the exact message was. However, there was a reddit post for windows 10 troubleshooting, and I found the technique in the comments. I'll try and find it in my history on my laptop later and send a link to it, but regardless, we can all just take note of this as a method of working around certain issues with windows 10 installations. Weird thing, even when I disabled fast startup, it still crashes whenever I try to restart. I can work around this the same way, and by just shutting down and then starting the system up again, so I don't really mind. But yeah, I'll try to find the page I found that on later.

Yes, please, if you can find it - and also the error message you used to search for it. The error message will be important.

So you are still having problems with startup? What exactly is happening? any error messages? We may need you to open a thread in the BSOD section, and grab some dump files for evaluation there.

When's the last time you ran a chkdsk on your HDD?

    @Axington

Great job and achievement! You finally got the fat lady to sing.

I know you're anxious as we all would be, but I'd advise before customizing as simrick suggests to mirror it and I would let the thing run for a few days to perhaps let it work out it's own kinks. Perhaps solve the boot problem if it doesn't fix itself at most and mirror and after that, then customize. Any which way, good luck. :)

It's a little bit too late for that, me having already customized to the point that my user folder is on a second drive, but rest assured, what kinks it has I'm having a very easy time ironing out manually on my own right now, at least compared to before. Besides, if anything does go wrong, I can always remember how I got it to work before when the installation crashed, so even if I had to go back to square one, it would be more of an inconvenience than any real issue.

I had finally gotten around to trying to find the page I found the fix on, but couldn't find it in my history. I'll try again at some point, hopefully I can get it for you guys.
