    Reinstalling IE Engine

I used a script (AME10) to remove Internet Explorer in a new installation of Windows 10 LTSC but now I found out there's a program I want to use that won't install without the Internet Explorer backend engine (it doesn't need the actual browser part of IE). Is there any way to reinstall just that part of IE? Or if not how would I reinstall IE completely? The only packages I've found in the Microsoft Update Catalog are for Windows 7, 8 & Server.

I am unsure if on Edge, having used a script, you will still have on the menu - settings and more
the three horizontal dots to the right of the top bar
    Reload in Internet explorer mode

    If you have try that

    Two options:

    1. Find your installed W10 build version on uupdump.net. Select the build, and Browse Files -> "Explorer". Download and install the Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package CAB file.

    2. Download the W10 Features on Demand (FOD) ISO. Mount the ISO, and find the same CAB file.

    I uninstalled Edge too.

I downloaded the cab file through uupdump.net (which is suspciously small: 285kb) and installed it using this command
    Code:
DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:”Full path of .cab file”
Installer said it was successful but it didn't seem to change anything.

I would look in the Playbook, and see what actual package(s) they removed. The other way is rebuild another image identical to your current install, except with IE intact. Now do a repair reinstall, which should restore the missing software.

I can't figure out how to view the playbook. I tried to extract it like an archive file but that didn't work and I tried to view it in notepad++ but it's not human readable. There's not a detailed list on the AME website about exactly what is removed and I can't find any info about editing or viewing the playbook manually.

I still have my Windows iso that I used to install however if I add the AME playbook to the iso to get an image identical to what I have installed it still wouldn't do me any good because there's no option to not uninstall IE in the playbook and so I would still have to figure out how to add IE back to the iso after running the playbook. Unless I'm missing something?

I'm not really a fan of Ameloriated's current model. What started out as an open, extensible architecture looks more and more closed source. It's a shame that AtlasOS and ReviOS are kinda stuck having invested themselves on the platform.

Without understanding what dependencies are missing, it's hard to know how to repair an image. It's like every modded ISO, you're at the mercy of the devs' whims.

Yeah I'm second guessing my choice. I created a discord account just to ask about this issue in their support forum but 3 days later and I've gotten no response. I would think this would be a common enough problem that there would either have been another post where the issue was already discussed (there wasn't) or that the answer would be well known enough to elicit a quick response. Even just to tell me that it's not possible to use AME with IE would be better than no response. At least then I would know what my choices are.

I thought the playbook model seemed like a really good idea but between the lack of documentation on their website, lack of help in their support forum and lack of ability to troubleshoot my own issues by having the playbooks be editable in some way I'm thinking maybe I should find an alternative. Any suggestions?

I just want a clean copy of Windows without a bunch of unnecessary stuff running in the background and without it telephoning home every 30min with information about my system. This is why I stuck with W7 for so long although after playing with W10 for a few weeks now I do see it has a bunch of improvements that I would hate to be without now. I just wish Microsoft didn't ruin it by trying to adopt the Google business model.

There are quite a few PowerShell-based debloating or anti-telemetry projects out there. Many of them overlap in basic features. It comes down to "do you trust the dev's defaults?", or are you allowed to pick which changes to apply.

Yeah, that's the problem. There are a lot of them and which one to trust. That's why I was soliciting suggestions.
