By trial and error I have found that the absolute minimum recovery partition size required for a successfully install of KB5034441 is 680MB.

MS have got themselves in a real mess. I recently tested a clean install of Windows 10.
The recovery partition it created was too small for KB5034441 to install
Bree, have you seen my post #7 here? Everything seems in order now.

minitool 12.8 has a bug, when you shrink or other the c partition: the recovery partition will become raw.
    Use and recommend easeus.

I used NIUBI Partition Editor: Best Free Partition Manager Software for Windows 11/10/8/7.

    It was effortless.

I used MiniTool successfully, but I'm still using an old version 9.1 of Partition Wizard Free (some functions were removed from Partition Wizard Free starting with version 10 and became 'paid-for only').

It was precisely easeus partition master free. There is a portable version of this software.

There is also a portable version of minitool partition wizard. I will contact minitool to report the bug in version 12.8. I saw on the internet 5 to 8 years ago that minitool had already corrected a version which gave raw partitions!

Version 9.1 works well, haven't tried it myself, but it's old, could bug at any time... Overall, a system backup is ideal.

I tried the official MS fix for 4441 yesterday. They must be missing a step or 2 because following the instructions exactly got me big heap doodoo....ie., it didn't proceed to do anything.
