Access Windows On Upgraded Desktop Build?

I recently decided to upgrade a very old build from 2010. So I purchased a brand new motherboard, CPU, RAM, GPU, and PSU and had them all swapped out. I am working on an SSD but it's taking forever to ship.

Anyway, since the upgrade, I cannot access Windows at all. The BIOS does know both drives exist and that only one has BOOTMGR but won't properly boot. If I try to boot from the drive with the OS, I get a bluescreen saying "inaccessible boot device" and it restarts into auto recovery which asks for my keyboard language - I cannot provide the answer though, because the keyboard doesn't work - in any USB port.

So I tried making a boot device on my USB. Same keyboard issue. I get to the installation screen, and I can't select anything because the keyboard is off.

I don't know what else to try or why this is happening. Is something corrupt or too old? Is there something I overlooked when setting up? I'm tearing my hair out ready to cry at this point. I spent a lot trying to update my old computer and I've gotten nowhere.

The only other thing I haven't tried is resetting the CMOS battery, which is currently behind the large GPU PCI card I had installed. (Great placement for a CMOS battery, really)

Boot to the BIOS and check if legacy devices are enabled in USB. or if there is a specific setting to disable usb ports.

Your inaccessible boot device error is probably because you are trying to boot an MBR drive with an NTFS system partition in UEFI mode.

I have checked and legacy devices are enabled by default. There's no setting I could find that disabled the USB ports.

Yes I do see where you're coming from and that's where I thought I saw a solution as well. A friend actually pointed that out.

I was on UEFI mode and it was just booting directly to the BIOS. He told me to switch to CSM (the other mode in my BIOS) and viola! It worked...or so I thought. The Windows logo popped up and seemed to start, but ended in the Blue Screen Error "inaccessible boot device"

Unless there's another setting I seem to be overlooking? I wouldn't be surprised if there's a setting I missed. The motherboard's a MSI - PRO B650-P WIFI and I flashed the BIOS to the current version on their website, so it's up to date.

Did the keyboard work within the BIOS.

Yes. Keyboard and Mouse work perfectly within the BIOS. And I can use the keyboard shortcuts beforehand as well. The Delete key will get me into the BIOS just fine and I assume the F keys work for their purposes as well.

I don't know why it shuts off the keyboard on Windows Installation, it doesn't make sense to me. Is there maybe a cheapo keyboard out there that will just work on all USBs with no installation needed?

I'm afraid I'd see a repeat of what's happening here. Does Safe Mode require booting to work properly? When booting normally I get "inaccessible boot device"

Also I think I've tried hitting F8 numerous times with no results. Unless there's another way to get into Safe Mode?

Whatever the standard code is on the bluescreen itself would be all I could give you. I don't have a full stop code or anything. I'd have to check tomorrow though.

I suggest you build the USB Win 10 22h2 installation drive using MCT so it can boot as Legacy or UEFI.

    Windows 10 Clean Install

    Reset BIOS or load defaults.
Set Disk mode to AHCI, not RAID
Select OS mode = UEFI .
Disable fast boot and secure boot (you can turn it on after installation)

Windows can be installed in two ways: Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT
To install as Legacy-MBR you must boot the installation drive as Legacy
To install as UEFI-GPT you must boot the installation drive as UEFI.

As you have a UEFI BIOS, you should install as UEFI-GPT
Detach any other drives (SATA or Power cable) from the MB.

During POST, press F12 to launch the boot menu. You will see two options for the USB drive. USB UEFI (Name) and USB (Name). Select USB UEFI (Name) if you want to install as UEFI-GPT or select USB (name) if you want to install as Legacy-MBR.
Go to install and delete ALL partitions on the main drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.
If you don't want to use MS account, don't enable updates or connect to the internet during installation.
