Then just double click that file to run the App.
I agree. It will alow you to see what the state of the computer is and then you can make a decision on what approach will be best for your situation.

The other good thing is that it is Portable and requires NO installation.

    I hope this helps.

thanks i'm not concerned about win10 the hard drive i would install into that HP 17.3 Model: 17-BY2053CL -- Intel i5-10th Gen Processor laptop has an activated account and when i was using that pc last year it had all the updates. but what i needed to know is if anyone happens to know if this pc HP 17.3 Model: 17-BY2053CL -- Intel i5-10th Gen Processor is win11 ready? i do not have it in my possession it is online for sale and is missing the hard drive but the listing claims it has memory but does not say how much.

i did ask on the hp forums and all i get so far for answers are jokes. one person said get to just get it and find out. and a bunch of other stupid answers. but maybe someone will tell me that has a real answer. i may just get it and try. but i have to make sure it gets the security updates. there are tons of pcs now one ebay and not one is in that xda list. this one is not on that list, so that is why i asked. this one has some numbers on that xda list but not complete numbers.

anyway because it is gen 10 i'm hoping it is able to run win11 and get the security and other updates. thanks

Sorry, I should have explained better.
Win10 & Win11 licensing is the same. Being able to activate in one = being able to activate in the other.
I mentioned Win10 just because it might be easier given that you have a spare disk with WIn10 already on it. The answer you get for Win10 will apply to Win11 as well.
    - User accounts are not "activated". Computer hardware is activated [Mainly the hardware signatures of the motherboard & CPU. Definitely not the disk.].
    - If you have a computer that you have activated with a digital licence that you have tied to an MSAccount then that can ease getting a new computer activated.

It will. There is no doubt about that.

    Oh dear.
The only other suggestion I can make is that you search the internet for HP 17-BY2053CL reviews in the hope that one of them mentions running Windows 11 on it.

    Best of luck,

guys i do not have this pc in my possession. it is on an auction now. and i do not trust the sellers to give me the real truth about it being win11 ready, they want to sell them for any reason and if it is not ready they will say they post win11 on it so it is ready. i have old pc with win11 on them and they can't even get win10 updates.

so i can't run that program i do not yet have the pc. i'm asking just in case someone has this pc and has win11 on it and getting updates. thanks.

    Bob,

There is a user who claims to have Windows 11 running on this computer.

The only other references to it that I found in their forum were your own thread and an earlier one that merely gets the response that it meets the specs.

I also updated a very old non-compliant computer to Windows 11.
    It gets automatic updates.
Others have posted that their old, non-compliant ones also get automatic updates.
Look around this thread and you'll see reports about them.

What none of us got were automatic updates to the next Windows 11 Version [22H2].
Perhaps there is something blocking WU on that old computer of yours i.e. you are witnessing fault symptoms or the action of a WU-suppressing utility rather than non-compliance symptoms.

thanks denis. i just went to the xda forums and asked there the same question, being they posted the list for compatible pcs maybe someone will know. outside of that i may bid on that pc for the heck of it and take a chance providing the price stays low.

on another topic i do have a new pc the neighbor gave me for helping him install his stairlift and repair all of his cars, it is a, get this name now ALLDOCUBE15 GTbook15 it has win11 on it but i have not put my info on it yet. i turned it on and then off and put it back in the box and will wait until i have to actually use win11 before i take it out. i do not care for win11 looks and how it runs, it will take time to get use to. i did set one like it up for the neighbor to use he got 3 of them i expect it is a win11 ready pc but some here may be interested in this one and do some checks to see if it is a good pc and really win11 ready. it looks to be a fast pc if i recall when i set the neighbors up it had win11 pro on it and over 3ghz speed. it does run fast but is it really a win11 ready pc i do not know. i did not run that ready program on it.

Many people tweak Windows 11 to suit themselves.
    I do.

I want to keep using Taskbar toolbars as I've done for over a decade.
    - I've been using ExplorerPatcher. It had a problem for a while a couple of months ago but it is generally well-regarded.
    - Because of that problem, I'm currently using StartAllBack instead. It also replaces the Start menu but I'm not bothered by that.

    All the best,

thanks i will wait until i have to run win11 before i worry about the menu and the back pages, by then i betting they will have a app that runs like the classic menu and lets win11 look like win10. i tried the classic menu on the win11 pc i have setup and it still had a partial section overlapping the classic menu, but the classic menu did run ok. thanks
