@cereberus has just said what I was going to..

If you hack away randomly doing whatever you feel like doing.. you're going to end up in trouble and be asking for someone's time to get you out of it. Please don't do that...
thanks for the reply. the pc is going to be offline almost most of the time except to purchase a game on gog. its not going to do any other tasks besides games and editing and I dont mind reinstalling again if something is off. almost everything there I wont need. ill probably wind up installing it, see something I dont like, recompile a new iso with more removed things and reinstall a few times till I get it right.

I disagree with that term. If you have Home, then you opted for a license where you will receive updates. Your phone (if you have one) gets updates.. I bet you don't complain they are 'forced'.

Had you bought Pro you would have better control via 'Notify' in Group Policy.
I use an older phone. lg v20. no more updates. they were never forced either. I was able to turn off all notifications for them too. and they didnt shut it down forcefully to update. I dont use the internet with it. no browser. I dont game on it no social media on it. I use it for messaging calls and thats pretty much it. im just not a phone guy for my internet needs. I have 3 computers and laptop so I feel phone is not needed for any of those things.

windows update is not going to be installed if possible. one time was enough for me the intrusion when I was working on something important and it shut down my laptop to force an update and that was rude. I was able to stop it through services or regedit after the fact. cant remember. the less stuff installed the better. its not going to used for browsing the web and such. its strictly for gaming and editing. the many features of w10 isnt needed, or wanted.

I do plan to purchase a win10 pro serial not home edition. thank you for your time sir

Sadly by default that's the case. That's how Windows is designed.

But you can take control of that.

I've never had an unexpected update or unexpected restart related to updates.

That only happens if you don't use the configuration options and tutorials.

    a. with Pro: set updates to Notify.
    b. Tutorials on how to control restarts.
    c. Active Hours - Settings.
    d. 3rd party tools.
    e. Some have had success with setting their connection to 'Metered' (Wi-fi or ethernet as appropriate).
    etc

Plenty of ways. Use the tutorials- search tenforums- or simply disconnect from internet!

    Ref. update-related restarts:

thank you for the fast reply and for the help.

my biggest hate of windows 10 is the telemetry and the intrusive in your face system. one pet peeve of mine in an os(any) is nagging and babysitting and constantly prompts/notifications. like when im doing something and needs to prompt me with tips or recommendations. theres no excuse for this babysitting and borderline harassment. it feels intrusive like its sitting over my shoulder waiting to popup.

and its telemetry is a problem and hence it will not be used much other then editing and gaming. if I would know coding I would have moved to linux a long time ago but no gaming there. shame people dont gather funds to make a novice level version for gaming and such. id prefer to pay $200 for a linux os then windows.
