Updating Custom Win 10v2004 possible without starting the apocolypse?

Glad the newest update for win 10 seems mostly trouble free. Looks like I'll need it to eventually play, Starfield.

I'm hesitant to update, used NTLite 2.5 years ago to custom v2004 OS Build 19041.450 and turned off updates.
Iirc, removed media player, win store, edge, internet explorer and the ai (alexa?).

Any chance the Update Tool could update line by line, avoiding any trying to reinstall those programs?

In case all hell will breaks lose, I should just create a new custom iso on my thumb drive, if it fails.
No idea if I can strip out all those programs now with 22h2-3, so my new custom iso might fail too.

[didn't really feel listing my equipment was necessary atm.]

Thanks for any suggestions, tips and help.

You could repost this question on NTLite Forum. Just sayin'.

    Sure, sorry about the noobness.
Honestly not locked into NTLite, if there's better.

Edit: Wait do you mean not to ask at Win 10 forums (new and don't see a NTLite forum here)?

There are other methods to remove those features, but mostly after post-install. NTLite's strength is finely-tuned component removals from the install image, and re-removals after the monthly updates.

The forum is linked under NTLite's website.

There's actually no benefit from removing those anyway- unless you're trying to squeeze Windows onto a 32GB tablet or something like that- and I doubt you'd save much by doing so anyway.

Cortana is dead in the water (made redundant by MS some time ago). Near zero resource usage (storage only.
IE is no longer supported by MS although still present
Edge has always been the default browser for certain things like links from the Lock screen, New and Interests - even if you set the default browser to something else. I've tried to get someone to tell me what happens with those links with Edge removed.

Store? If you don't use it, it won't kick you in the backside or make itself apparent. Likewise media player.

So I don't see the benefit in removing those really, and it seems to have meant you're stuck on a build....

Granted, caution is needed occasionally with some MS updates.. a few have had some problems applying a couple of recent ones. But minor issues compared with the debacle around the end of 1903-1909.

    Thanks both!

Really gtk about those programs, the possibility of success and removal after the fact, if necessary.
Made a backup (for the first time) with EaseUS Todo Backup (unless there's better free) in case of failure.
Downloaded the newest iso with MediaCreationTool22H2 with no trouble, but HeiDoc.net did not seem to work.

    Hello @dalchina,

I have always customised my installations. Previously, I used to customise them pre-install using software and the .wim file. Nowdays, I customise post-install. You have probably seen my posts on how I do this.

One aspect was indeed Edge [ I use Google Chrome ] still being used for certain links. I will try and dig out my notes about this but I am pretty sure I used [ and still do ] an Extension called Chrometana Pro:

    I hope this helps.

MSEdgeRedirect - deals with most cases where Edge would be invoked - whichever browser you choose as default.

    Thanks for the tip!

I found it for Firefox too, which I use and made by the same person.

If you downloaded the Win10 22h2 iso, the best way to upgrade is to right click on it and select mount. On the virtual drive run Setup. It will reinstall Win 10 keeping your data and programs.
It will probably reinstall all those applications you deleted. Quite easy to uninstall them.
For Cortana, you can just disable it. Enable or Disable Cortana in Windows 10

What programs / apps to use to tweak Win 10
