sadly I am not able to locate a newer bios.
they are at the link previously posted.e.g. acpi flash bios v1.7

better check the exact and complete model number before attempting bios update

    for example:

    Satellite A100 (PSAA0C-LE400E) Support | Dynabook

I just saw this on the site.

BIOS V1.80 (and higher) can be used with Windows Vista and XP. BIOS V1.70 (and lower) can not be used for Windows Vista. Once the BIOS is updated to V1.80 (or higher), you cannot revert to V1.70 (or lower).

Vista is nt6 and so is win10.

Probably better to go for a higher bios than 1.7

2.00 is the latest they have there:

    Satellite A100 (PSAA0C-LE400E) Support | Dynabook

    my current bios is 5.10
are you sure? cant see that on the dynabook site.

they have this for a different model

ACPI Flash BIOS version 5.10 for Tecra A7/Satellite A105

ACPI Flash BIOS version 5.10 for Tecra A7/Satellite A105 (Intel)

aha... look at the applicable models bottom left of that page, plenty of A100 listed.

so lets check more recent like 5.6 and lots of applicable A100 listed there too

The only safe method, following a Ransomware attack,is to remove the infected drive and replace with a clean one.
Then use Media Creation Tool [MCT ] to install your client's licenced version of Win 10.
Never try to copy anything from the infected drive and if it is a Hard Drive [HDD ] then use Dban at least twice to destroy the infection.
YES,in the days of Win 7,I was zapped by Ransomware.
Been there, done that. Now Macrium is used in both Clone and Image on separate, disconnected drives.

Well ladies and gents, it seems the jury has been out and found me guilty of two counts.

Count one: Never offer a fixed fee until you know what you are dealing with (Guilty as charged)
Count two: Never let a pretty lady with a big pair of puppy dog eyes influence you that it was all working fine up to a day or two.
    (Guilty as changed)

I now believe there is a major issue with the A100, it won't let me install Windows of any description... Reading up and as mentioned by dalchina I thought it may be an issue with UEFI being this old tried a legacy install nothing.

Contacted the customer and those puppy dog eyes turned into a gruff Doberman, taking out the expletives "You said you could fix it, so I want it fixed, I explained going by the information you gave it was a simple job of either repairing Windows or re-installing Windows, which is why I quoted a small fixed price "Not my problem, I paid you what you asked. I want it fixed or replaced."

Okay so soap opera out of the way, apart from scrap it, any suggestions... Window keeps switching off and on while trying to load as I said any version of Windows.

Hi, given that you've never seen it boot or been able (presumably) to check, how do you actually know it was running Win 10 Pro? The word of the lady with big puppy dog eyes?

I assume you tried installing with a new disk, and that you've checked the CMOS battery, it being old.

Now - although it's probably too old to be worth it (might be cheaper to buy her a 2nd hand PC!) - the last thing you could try is booting it from a live boot disk- HOWEVER a 64 bit one may not work, and you may need to find one based on 32 bit Windows.

That way you could determine the state of the hardware.

Of course rather limited options apply if you booted to a command prompt from a Win 10 install disk, for example.

Which begs another question- if you can do that, does the PC remain on, or die?

We end this saga, on a sour note... Did a complete strip-down of the A100, and cleaned out all the crap, dust etc, if you are someone who regularly does a complete refresh you know what I am talking about.
Anyway CPU and GPU had years old heat paste possibly original, so cleaned and freshened, as I was putting it all back together, a tab on the mouse ribbon cable connector snapped... So I thought F@@k it, threw the towel in and gave her a reconditioned C660, which they were happy with, I say they as I satered getting grief from the wife!

So I will break the A100 for spares and screen, casing faulty motherboard... EATC.

Thanks, everyone for your comments, and support, until the next time stay safe.
