I don't agree with you either because you are misconstruing what i said.

Usually you cannot go back to old versions. Meaning no its normally not possible but some older motherboards can go backkwards.

You're free to express your opinion. So do I.

What I'm saying is the opposite of what you said.
    Normally you can downgrade.
    In some cases you can't.

Thanks Megahertz. Yeah I just spent some time checking that (all over the web). It doesn't look good. I cannot afford to have this PC down or waste any more time on this. I have critical jobs I need to attend to requiring this PC (which is working just fine with the old Ryzen 3 CPU). I ONLY wanted to upgrade the CPU so I could switch over to windows 11 as the CPU is the only thing not compatible.

I have a request to ASRock Mobo support about this. I expect them to tell me to bring the PC back to where I bought it. Sigh. I would consider a major rebuild from scratch with a NEW mother board and CPU. BUT from I can see, from all he negative stuff out there regarding several mobos and the Ryzen CPU it looks like I'll have he same result. Thanks for your time and effort. I'm afraid this issue is just gonna have be fixed by the manufacturer. Oh here's a thought. I wonder if the store I bought it from will exchange the new CPU for a "NON integrated graphics version CPU ? .

I'll report back here when I get a reply from ASRock.

Why don't you buy a not expensive graphics card and disable the Ryzen internal graphics on BIOS?

PS. What is strange is that the video works under BIOS. This suggest that you may need to add a Rysen graphics drivers to the Win 10 installation files.

The thing here is, he can't disable or even configure anything related to the GPU with that BIOS...
Probably sounds stupid but, why don't you try either making a clear CMOS (the pins are usually next to the battery) or removing the battery and then clear CMOS? Maybe there is something funky at the moment and reseting could help.

I mean, supposedly BIOS updates reset stuff to defaults, but doesn't hurt to try.

If that doesn't work, that is a defective 5600G and you should RMA it... I just have the same CPU in a MSI B550M-PRO-Wifi and works wonders, both igpu and my RX 6600 XT (I can even have both enabled if I want)

The display is working with the original CPU because they are using a GPU the problem is that they cannot get the new CPU with IGPU to post at all with the GPU in or not. The original CPU has no IGPU and the new one does.

The pictures of the bios will be with the old CPU and GPU in just read the thread we have gone over it a few times already and i am saying the same stuff for like 10 times now. That is not the issue.

If they straight up black screen on power on with the new part then its either a defective CPU or the bios needs to get updated to the latest. Drivers have no bearing when the computer first turn on until you see the windows logo come on the screen. They should still see a splash screen or post screen but if they don't get that then its one of those two reasons.

I did also ask them to clarify when the black screen occurs which they have not really elaborated because that would define whether the issue is on the bios side of booting or after the OS starts loading because the driver only matters when the bootstrapping happens.

There is some overlap but this is a rough sequence of events. I mean try that all in 1 driver because you should exhaust all avenues when troubleshooting something but here is a generalization of your issue. Basically black screen in the green area is not good and it usually mean worse case scenario but it can also be benign like bios updates or cmoss issue. If you exhaust all the troubleshooting and still can not get a picture then its really only one thing broken parts.

If you don't see anything on the screen after power on box then that is also not a good sign because the CPU is the first thing to start working and the issue you are having is a CPU related one.

Just Thought about it the only time the PC would black screen in the blue area is when something is critical and the computer needs to turn off straight away to stop its self blowing up.

Yeah i am not familiar with the Aserock version of this motherboard but generally that setting should be accessible even when there is only one display device. I think in theory it would make sense to lock it if there is only one device available and would be possible if they made it that way.

Hard to say one way or the other, but they do have CPU support on 4.10. They should go to the latest though because its advised to do so in most cases, there could be microcode updates and depending on the CPU bin it may require a more recent version all though they would state this on the support page if this was the case.

I think unless Op has updated to Bios 10 and installed the driver as a last ditch effort then its probably incompatibly between firmware/hardware or broken CPU

FWIW here is my process concerning ASRock Bios upgrading:

    Original BIOS still at 1.0

Checked with AMD and ASRock for recommendations. Both said best Bios for Ryzyen 5 2600g was BIOS version 4.50.
Proceeded to update BIOS (one at a time following upgrade procedure from ASRock web support site.
In between version 1 and 4.50 one upgrade said to also install AMD video pack/driver update.
Bios update said: Please install "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.10.20_NHDA" or a later version before updating to this BIOS.
    Did that. No problems.

Continued to update Bios noting every single new update now has warning starting with update 3.20 that says,
" ASRock do NOT recommend updating this BIOS if Pinnacle, Raven or Summit Ridge CPU is being used on your system."

Stopped at that point as I was still using my old Ryzen 3 with Summit Ridge.

Much more research done no clear answers as to what to do. Sent question to ASRock support as to what to do because current CPU was Summit and BIOS higher than 3.2 NOT recommended and asked what was proper procedure to make switch from Ryzen 3 (Summit Ridge) to Ryzen 5 (Cezzane) as far as needed BIOS updates? Never got answer. So based on a few more days of research I just ignored the version warning and went straight to version 4.50. (most others reported just going all the way to latest version which depending on age of info could be anything from version 2 to 10.

And that brought us to the following after another few days of burning in the vers. 4.50 bios with no issues. .

At THAT point PC still working perfectly. Heavy burn in for 2 days and I was confident I was ready to install the new CPU.

So that was my preparation done b4 to get this PC ready for the new CPU. Do you want to see the next detailed result before I go further which is what brought me here to begin with? Any questions so far ??

Hooray. Got a reply from "Eric" at ASRock America support. Looks like I was "doomed" from the start.

Here is his reply: When use the old CPU 1200 to flash the bios, the bios chip only half of bios chip.
You will need to use AMD 2700X CPU to flash the bios. If you don’t have the right CPU to flash the bios. You are welcome send in the MB and we can flash the bios for you for free, let us know.

Now I did explain exactly that I wanted to change my old Ryzen 3 1200 and replace it with a Ryzen 5 5600G. And from I get from his simplistic explanation is I have to first install "something"? that is an AMD 2700x .. So what? A Ryzen 3 2700? or 5 2700 or 7 or 9 ?? I don't think they make a Ryzen 3 2700 ?? I once again am lacking explicit details to know what do do. I will send him ANOTHER email asking exactly what CPU he suggests I get. Right now I don't give a HOOT what I put in the d-m thing. As long as it will work with Windows 11. This is crazy. THEY, both AMD and ASRock told me I could upgrade from my R-3 1200 to a R-5 5600g no problem and all I had to do was bring the BIOS up to their recommended 4.50.

Now after I told them it doesn't work they say I have to FIRST buy and install an "AMD 2700x" CPU (what ever that is?) to get the BIOS up to 4.50 and then toss that CPU and finally put in my Ryzen 5. I have an email going back to them as soon as I finish here asking them to explain exactly what CPU I need to use. I don't want to loose the use of this PC and wait to ship it back and forth even though they offered to flash the BIOS for free. No wonder there is so much web media traffic specifically concerning this Ryzen 5 5600g CPU upgrade lately. Sigh .. back to square one .. Does anyone here know what ASRock is talking about exactly?
Am I frustrated ? Words can not describe it ...

    - - - Updated - - -

The ASRock Tech support guy wasn't very clear with his first reply to me. I originally gave him all the details and summarized saying I had a brand new Ryzen 5 xxx I and am using it to replace a Ryzen 3 xxxx. I updated the BIOS properly first and the new CPU does NOTHING. His reply to me didn't help so I asked specifically again a 2nd time asking which exact model CPU should I use and knowing I've already flashed the bios to 4.50 (AND) knowing now it's only "half flashed" what ELSE should I do when I attempt a NEW flash again? Do I go back to P1? Or re-flash the existing 4.50 ? Or flash up to a higher version ? P10 ? etc. He keeps using the phrase "half flashed" ... which kinda makes me laugh .. Half "something" for sure. <grin>
This is his 2nd reply to me as received. .which is mostly just repeating what he first told with the addition of his attempt to tell me exactly which CPU to use. (still not clear on that either)

You need to install the 2700X CPU to flash the bios. AMD 1200 CPU will not completed flash the bios. That CPU only flash half size of bios chip. 2700X CPU. Pinnacle Ridge 3.7G
Well at least I know what CPU I need? An AMD CPU that is a 2700x 3.7G ? Pinnacle Ridge. I'll have to dig up a list of AMD CPUs and find a match I guess. This was ASRock in the USA (supposedly) Maybe there is a language problem?
Maybe I should just forget about making this mother board Win 11 compatible, and buy the "right" mother board ?

Oh but I am impressed that he responded in just a couple hours!

News to me i don't care about AMD so i never knew this. But it seems to line up from a quick search online they are saying the same thing. I have not owned a AMD CPU since FX.

[SOLVED] - Upgraded CPU, system not working | Tom's Hardware Forum

This sounds like a stupid paradigm tbh and a method to generate money coz they know people will just go out to brick in mortar and buy an intermediate CPU at times because its easier to do no one wants to send their parts away when building a new PC right?

I guess just send it to AMD or if you bought it from a physical store then take it there and see if they can do it for you or ring a local PC shop which should be able to do it also. That way you don't have to buy a CPU that you only need one time.
