Touchpad does not work in Windows 11 installation environment 22H2

Hi, when I go to install Windows 11 with a pendrive on a laptop the touchpad does not work, it has happened to me on a lenovo and an hp and I do not know why this happens, do you know why it happens and how to fix it, is there a generic driver that I can inject in the installation environment?

When Windows 11 is installed, it does not recognize it either until it is updated with Windows Update.

Hello @RubenLL,

May I suggest that you go to the laptops manufacturers website BEFORE you perform the Clean Install and download ALL the necessary Drivers. You can save these to the installation USB.

During setup, on the Where do you want to install Windows? screen, there is a Load Driver entry. You can click this and load the appropriate Driver.

I have never had that sort of problem so I can't answer that, other than the fact that I would assume that each manufacturers Drivers would be different.

As a workaround, have you thought of attaching a USB Keyboard and Mouse prior to installation ?

You do not appear to have specified the laptop model or provided a driver download page link or confirmed it is Win 11-compatible. Could I suggest you do that when posting on elevenforum. Thanks.

I experience the same problem when I boot into one particular USB [Acronis boot disk].
My solution is to connect a USB mouse. This has never failed me.
I used to move around the interface using tab & arrow keys instead but the USB mouse is much easier to work with.

I am surprised that you are getting this problem when booting from a Windows installation USB. I've never experienced that.

It's very common for the TouchPad not to work from WinRE or WinPE based media these days. In the past, the touchpad was typically connected to USB internally. However, most systems these days use alternate interfaces, such as serial I/O, to communicate with touchpad. As a result, you need to load the driver for that interface in order to get the Touchpad working.

If you provide to me the following information, I may be able to give you some more detailed information for your system. Here is what I need:

1) The model number and make of your system
2) What was used to create the pendrive? (Macrium Reflect, Ventoy, etc.).
