Windows won't install on second-hand laptop?

Also tried, indeed I had made the DVDs for windows that way. On my regular work PC, the DVDs work properly but as soon as I try them in my laptop... well. Then it goes hopelessly wrong. You know, I'll just keep this laptop on Linux Mint. Are we rid of the hassle with the windows DVDs, right? And at least it runs well. Although, the battery life could be a bit longer too. Only lasts an hour. Oh well, what do you want with a second-hand laptop, right? Am already happy THAT it picks up an OS.

Doing a Clean Install would wipe the drive.
Did you try using a USB Flash drive to install Windows?

Already found a way, used GParted via these instructions GParted: Create GPT Partition Step by Step and now it runs Windows 10 happily! Took me all night but hey! SUCCESS!

You don't need to use anything else than the Win 10 installation drive to set your computer if you follow the instructions to do a clean install
- Boot able GPT drive can only be used on UEFI BIOS. As your BIOS is Legacy only, it doesn't make sense what you did unless you cleaned all the partitions on the drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceeded (normal procedure on a clean install).
- You must use a 64 bits OS on a boot able GPT drive.

Did you install Win 10 32 or 64 bits?

In my opinion, with 4G of memory, it will run better with 32 Bits.

Decided to slap Linux Mint 'VERA' again on it. Just wasn't playing nice with WinDoze. And yay, in a few days upgrading to Mint Victoria.
