    Windows update stuck!

I had a problem 2 days ago... Using the MCT tool to create an ISO... 4 hours later still stuck at 0% downloaded!!(On her machine)
This is for a friends Windows 10 laptop that will not download any updates on her machine . Office 2019 updated fine!
Reset Windows 10 updates numerous times and all the different ways!
So I will have to download the latest ISO on mine and take it to her place at some point to try in place reinstall.

Do feel free to try related tutorials from the searchable Tutorials section.

Note that we cannot guess what hacks or tweaks may have been employed. Many people attempt to block Windows Update in various ways.

With an unknown PC start by
    a. checking disk e.g. Crystal Diskinfo
    b. if ok, chkdsk c: /scan from an admin command prompt
    c. if ok, sfc /scannow similarly.

If those pass, then proceed to attempting repairs.

    History (so often unstated):
    - what is Windows build number
    - post screenshot of Update History
    - when did Windows Update last work?

Carefully went through all of Ghots Tutorial, no go there, so only left to try inplace upgrade.
There were 2 updates pending, but both timed out "No connection to Windows update"?... but Office 2019 update was ok!! and can surf the internet ok.
Ran out of time at that point.
Later on same day I went to my parents house... Mum said "My laptop won't connect"... 2 weeks ago it did! It's Linux so after much found out their modem/router was on Channel 12.. Linux only went up to Channel 11!!!
ISP router so can't change WiFi channels

Your friends computer probably have a Windows update blocker. I also have one (Sledgehammer) and if you don't unlock it won't update. All other internet applications works normally.

    A. Go to the Microsoft website and download the updates individually and install one at a time. Some updates will not install because a specific file version might not be met. ( meaning it wants you to install a new version of windows blah blah blah ). However you can bypass if you replace that specific file as it is only used for windows update ( it reading a ver number is the problem ) and not windows itself. Just something to be aware of when using "windows update etc etc etc .

    B. Use an offline updater program ( forget the name of most ), they will show you what is updated or not, and you proceed with those.

    C. Win10PE. ( iso to usb / rufus ) Use that and proceed via those tools of your choice buy be aware you need to know what you are doing.

    That makes sense.
Office updates use their own update mechanism not Windows update.

This is the only reset WU procedure worth using

I urge you to ignore the Daymin post above mine.
If you want to install individual updates manually then use a tool such as WUMgr to get a list of them and then search TenForums News for articles & direct download links for each one. There's a TenForums News article for almost every update.

You also mentioned Repair installs & "Ghots tutorial". Ghot does often post a summary of the Repair install procedure so you might have meant that. Personally, I use the procedure in the Repair install tutorial itself

This makes me think the computer has more than one problem.
If there aren't many installed applications, you might wish to consider rescuing her own files then reinstalling Windows

Yes I used the Repair procedure following Ghot's "Reset Windows Update" tutorial, still ended up at the same problem. The reason I updated Office 2019, to check if the computer could reach the office update servers.
I'm going to see her on Tuesday armed with the latest Windows 10 Image to in situ upgrade. Hopefully this will solve the problem

Other wise it's clean install time...
She has plenty of daily file backups!! to choose from, as she owns 3 1Tb WD portable drives, so I just need to backup the drivers.

The laptop is also running slower than normal so... another reason to wipe and start again.
