I should just go buy a new laptop. I just really like this one tho.
It would be a better use of your time, money & energy to
1 Wait & see if your recent actions have resolved the problems, or
2 Take the computer to a trustworthy technician for thorough disk testing, or
3 Fit a replacement M.2 card [disk] & remove the WD SSD [as discussed in slightly more detail above].

Why don't you remove the current SSD, install the M.2 NVMe SSD, boot from the MR rescue drive and apply the image you have to the M.2 NVMe SSD?

    For chkdsk:

Checks the file system and file system metadata of a volume for logical and physical errors.
If used without parameters, chkdsk displays only the status of the volume and does not fix any errors.
If used with the /f, /r, /x, or /b parameters, it fixes errors on the volume.

/b includes the functionality of /r
/r includes the functionality of /f
/x also includes the functionality of /f
/v Displays the name of each file in every directory as the disk is checked.

    /b Use with NTFS only.
Clears the list of bad clusters on the volume and rescans all allocated and free clusters for errors.
/b includes the functionality of /r.
Use this parameter after imaging a volume to a new hard disk drive.

The deepest / most thorough chkdsk switch is /b.
The verbose report is viewed by running the /v switch.

    chkdsk /b /v W:
(change the letter W to the applicable drive letter)

I will post the hd error scan after it runs tonight. I would like to do it now but want it to finish before I go to bed at 10 - do you think it will - it is not a large drive...

Also - tried to run TUNEUP Plus and windows defender blocked it. When it comes time in the sequence, should I ignore that block?

Does quick scan count? No errors found.

Don't get it. None of those files I posted made it? I guess I am out of the running for fixing this pc. Thanks anyway. Do appreciate your efforts.

Megahertz - may do that in near future. Thanks very much. I just ran HD sentinel and it came up with a fine result of overall health I would assume. Looks good to me.
