Can I use unused Win7 Pro OEM key for new Win10 ?

I am building a new rig and plan on starting off with Windows 10 Pro.

I have an old Windows7 Pro OEM key I never used.

I know I could install that, then upgrade to 10 then do a clean install butttt...

Can I install windows 10 Pro on my new build and activate it with the Windows 7 OEM Key ?

    thanks

I have used a win8.1 OEM key from another used laptop to my Desktop win10 install
On install when it asks for a key, i put in my win8.1 key and the install completed. So it seems as they do not have hardware check when you using a legal win8/7 key for upgrading to ten.

Yes, you can activate Windows 10 with a Windows 7 key.

A Windows 7 OEM key will probably not be accepted if you use the key when asked for one during the install. If so, skip entering a key when asked. After you have installed Windows 10 Pro it will not be activated. Change the installed key to your Windows 7 Pro key and it will activate.

See Option Two, Step 4 onwards in this tutorial.

    Activate Windows 10
