    Dual boot W10 and W11

    Hi,
    I dual boot Windows 10 and Windows 11. In Windows 10 I did the update from Windows Insider, and that was OK. When I logged in the next time it said there was an important update, so I went ahead. Imagine my surprise when on reboot I now had "Windows 11 installed, not Windows 10. I managed to roll back to Windows 10. Now every time I open W10 I still have this message. How can I stop this?

    Very useful reply. I still think 10 is better than 11.

    I also prefer Windows 10. Go back to W10 and disable updates. No, I don't know any other way to do this, I'm on W10 with updates disable and it's what's keeping things the way I want to. I also did this to my wife's computer because yeah, Microsoft kept insisting and downloading stuff for the upgrade.

    Accurate reply to your question. You did not frame the question adequately. In the end W10 is a dinosaur.

    If you want to stay on Win 10, the easiest way is > How to Specify Target Feature Update Version in Windows 10

    The above is what I use and I have never been confronted with the Win 11 upgrade message / update.

    I can see why people says they are being coerced into upgrading to Windows 11. A few weeks ago when I booted my desktop with Windows 10 Pro there was a message about needing an important update. Fortunately, I was paying attention because the important update was Windows 11. The annoying thing was there was no option to say no and continue to boot to Windows 10. I had no choice but to press the computer reset button. I don't use reset very often but this time it was necessary.

    This computer is fully Windows 11 compatible. I plan to eventually upgrade it to Windows 11 but only when I am ready.

    There is another ulterior motive behind the "forced" update push...

    Here is how to stop it:

    Windows 11 upgrade blocking

    1. Group Policy
    Set the following policy:
    Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Windows Updates for Business
    Policy Name: Select the target Feature Update version
    Policy Settings:
    Which Windows product version would you like to receive feature updates for? = Windows 10
    Target Version for Feature Updates = 22H2

    2. Registry
    This solution will apply the above policy settings directly as local policy.
    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
    ProductVersion = Windows 10 (REG_SZ)
    DisableWindowsUpdateAccess = 0 (REG_DWORD)
    TargetReleaseVersion = 1 (REG_DWORD)
    TargetReleaseVersionInfo = 22H2 (REG_SZ)
