    Upgrade Pro to Enterprise LTSC

    Hello everyone,

I am going to Upgrade my Windows 10 Pro (22H2) to Enterprise LTSC 2021.
    Background:
My Tablet doesn't support Windows 11 and I want to stretch the support. The support of Enterprise 2021 LTSC ends Jan. the 12th 2027.

Now I'm looking for the best path to upgrade.

This tutorial gives a lot of informations: Upgrade Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Enterprise

But I#m not sure, if I can upgrade this special edition easy by changing the product key only.

I've got a valid and legal Key and the installation files.
May it be a good way to start the setup.exe from the running OS?

Thank you very much for every helpful answer!

    Best regards from Germany
    Markus

    For what I know:
    - I don't think you can upgrade Windows 10 Pro (22H2) to Enterprise LTSC 2021.
    - First of all, Enterprise editions are not for sale for retail customers. If you install it will be considered a pirate copy.
    - Second, Enterprise editions has to be activated by a corporation server. As you not connected to one, it will never activate.

@NavyLCDR will probably knows more about Enterprise editions license.

You can upgrade to Enterprise, but not LTSC. LTSC requires a clean install. Upgrade to Enterprise only requires a change of Product Key.

There are legitimate reasons for an individual such as a computer professional to install Windows 10 Enterprise. I assume they can use a MAK product key to activate it since an individual would not have access to a server. Is that what is done in this case?

What NavyLCDR said. I was a Microsoft MVP and got a complimentary MSDN subscription. I can and have activated Windows 10 Enterprise with a MAK key and got a Digital Licence.

I maintain a laptop for a non-profit. I was able to by a volume license copy of Windows 8 Professional. On the Microsoft Volume License Service Center it was actually shown as Windows 8 Enterprise. There I was given downloads for both Windows 8 Professional and Enterprise and MAK and KMS keys for both. I used the MAK key to activate Windows 8 Professional. I later downloaded Windows 8.1 Professional and its MAK key and upgraded Windows 8 to it. What surprised me was that I was able to do the free upgrade to Windows 10 Professional and received a digital license. This is just like everyone else has done with the normal retail versions of Windows 7 and 8.1.

do realize that Win10 enterprise ltsc 2021 is based on version 21H2 (build 19044.x)

so going from Win10 pro 22H2 to LTSC 2021 (21H2) is sort of a minor "downgrade"

Can someone install or upgrade to Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC from Pro and use it normally for free?
