Thanks, Denis. Zooming out, do you think I should be doing a Clean Install to try to solve my Brother printer/scanner problem? I'm 99.99999% sure that the Brother problems are a direct result of Win 11 because I had no issues prior. I've troubleshooted with Brother 4-5 times, and each time, the troubleshooting works out, then a few days later, the same/similar problems resume. Googling my printer problem led me to conclude that I should do a Clean Install.

    I'm sorry but I really don't know.

I've never had printer problems so I've never developed any skills in dealing with them.

As long as you make a system image first, you can go ahead.
If you had been making system images before you could have reverted straight back after your unsolicited Win11 update.

Thanks, Denis, and thanks again to all who posted. I need to take time to re-read all posts carefully and get myself fully prepared.

Would the Moderators please keep this thread open for a bit so I have some time over the weekends to fully digest?

Please DM me if I can return the favor for you if you need something from LA!

Can't find that printer... link? (URL)? - how old is it? Drivers page?

Considering Win 11, after it's been persuaded to work, have you checked to see if subsequently a driver update was received, for example?

Do you know if a specific driver was installed in order to get it to work?

Thank you. I have troubleshooted with Brother 4-5 times. Every time we reset and re-install the printer/scanner, it works but the relief is temporary. A few days later, the scanner STOPS working over wifi. This has happened multiple times. Every time I re-install the printer/scanner, it stops scanning over wifi in a few days.

The Brother device LCD screen says "checking connection" for scanner or it says nothing, but then I get a "cannot connect, scanning failed" message on my laptop. I called Brother tech support 4-5 times, and we installed per Brother guidance. When I get off the phone with Brother, the scanner usually works over wifi. I think after 4 Brother calls, the scanner worked over wifi, and one time, we could not get the scanner to work over wifi. But even when Brother helps me get the scanner to work over wifi, the relief is short-lived - a few days later, the scanner loses the ability to scan over wifi. It's a cycle. It happens over and over, starting when my laptop upgraded itself to Win 11.

I know... which is why I asked 2 precise questions:

Do you know if a specific driver was installed in order to get it to work?
For example if a driver was updated and this stopped it working, then that update can be stopped and you would be happy.

As far as I know, after it has been persuaded to work, nothing was changed. Nothing was changed, and then it loses the ability to connect over wifi even though nothing was changed.

The specific drivers that were installed to persuade it to work are the current drivers that Brother tech support asked me to install or re-install.

The specific driver that was installed with the help of Brother tech support, and which resulted in temporary scanner wifi connection, is 1.1.19.19. The current driver remains 1.1.19.19. Nothing has changed. Every time the scanner is persuaded to scan over wifi, it stops scanning over wifi a few days later.

And thank you, Dalchina and Megahertz.
