Problem upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10?

Still have Win 7 on one of my laptop and have run into problems trying to upgrade it to Win 10 with the free upgrade. I have upgrade 3 other Win 7 computers using this method with no problem. The Windows 10 setup runs for a long time and then displays a message that it has failed. I reviewed the update history and found that 3 Windows 7 KB updates from 2019 had failed. Could this be the problem? I tried running Windows Update but as we all know Win 7 is no longer supported. Is there any where else to get these updates? Please advise. Thanks.

These problems can take a very long time to troubleshoot. Did you uninstall all anti-virus type programs and disconnect all peripherals not absolutely needed? How much free space do you have on the disk? Is there something keeping you from doing a clean install?

And, yes, past failure of updates to install could be the same problem.

    I agree with NavyLCDR.

Try to reset your Windows 7 Windows update.
Reset Windows Update (Choose Option 2) - SevenForumsTutorials

Resetting WU can help it overcome many of the problems that might be stopping it working.
Then try using it as it should still be able to install missing updates that were published before the end of support.
I appreciate that you are not particularly interested in individual Windows 7 updates. The check would merely be to demonstrate that WU worked.
Windows 7 updates are still available in the MSUpdateCatalog. See, for example, https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...?q=windows%207

You need to have installed the Windows 7 SP1 update in order to update to Windows 10.
You can check that using the WinVer command.

The Media Creation Tool requires Transport Layer Security 1.2 enabled.

Enable the TLS 1.2 protocol. Install KB3140245 and MicrosoftEasyFix 51044.

You may also need the SHA2 signing update.

    KB4474419 SHA-2 code signing support update for Windows 7 - Sept. 10 - Windows 7 Forums

If don't need to keep any files or installed software from your existing Windows 7, then you can still use the Win7's activation to clean install Windows 10 and get it a digital license.
