Desparately Trying to Upgrade Windows 10 (stuck on 20H2)  

I have recently upgraded my PC to an i7-12700F, Asrock B660M PG Riptide, 2x8GB TeamGroup Delta DDR4-3600 (XMP limited to 3466), RTX3060Ti. I reused the SATA SSD from my laptop which the Windows 10 resides, and installed all the drivers up to date.

This copy of Windows10 Home Single Language 20H2 (OS Build 19042.1526) was actually stuck on the update path back when it was still in my laptop but since it was working fine, I didn't bother to update its revision, that was until I reused in my new PC and found that games are crashing (Halo Infinite, Metro EE) so I thought its time to update it in hopes might help.

The problem is every effort I tried to update it fails with a "Windows 10 installation has failed".

The many various methods I have searched from and tried so far did not work:
1)Run the Windows10 22H1 ESD installer = Failed upgrade at 62%

2)Downloaded and manually run setup ISO 21H1, 21H2, 22H2 = Failed upgrade at 61-62%

3)Booting into Windows10 22H1 ESD. Using [bootrec method], bootrec /fixboot was denied, then I used bootsec/nt60 sys after that fixboot apparently successful, but a bootrec/ScanOS message; [Windows installation detected: 0], still can boot into my current Win 10 OS.

4)Booted into clean boot and used upgrade repair method = Failed upgrade at 37%

5)Using [sfc /scannow] = Message; Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

6)Using [chkdsk /f /r /x C:] = Message; Found errors and repaired. Failed upgrade repair at 74%

7)Using [Windows Update Troubleshooter] = Message; Service registration is missing or corrupt. Problem fixed. Failed upgrade repair at 79%

8)Using [Chkdsk C: /scan] = Message; Found no problems. Failed upgrade repair at 62%

9)Booted into Macrium PE - Used [Fix boot]. Message; Fix was successful = Failed upgrade repair at 61%

10)Booted into Aomei PE – Used [Fix MBR]. Message; Fix was successful = Failed upgrade repair at 62%

11)Used [Tweaking.com Windows Repair] = Found Reparse point error. Problem fixed. Failed upgrade repair at 61%

12)Emptied the [C:\Windows\SoftwareDistrubtion\ Download] = Windows Updates still could not find 21H1 or 21H2 update.

13)Used [ResetWUEng.zip] – Ran at Safe mode, then run option 11 then option 3 then option 2 then option 20 = Failed upgrade repair at 62%

14)Tried to get DISM image via PowerShell. Get-WindowsImage –ImagePath “D: \sources\install.wim” (D: is where I mounted 21H1 ISO) = it immediately Crash to Desktop

15)Tried using PowerShell. Repair-WindowsImage –Online –ScanHealth = It was running then Crash to Desktop

16)Used [Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components.bat] = Failed upgrade repair at 61%

17)Used [WUMGR] & [WUMT] = Both could not find 21H1 or 21H2 update.

18)Used [Reset Windows Update Tool (option 2)] = Failed upgrade repair at 61%

19)Tried manually install KB5003791 Enablement Package = DISM did not function. It shows:
("Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

Version: 10.0.19041.844

C:\WINDOWS\system32>")

20)Using DISM instructions in Command Prompt wouldn't run and will show the message in No.19 (" ").

21)SetupDiag threw an Error: 0x8007025d, with the message =
Error: SetupDiag reports DISM Image Session failure.
Last Phase: Pre-Finalize
Last Operation: Process Drivers for Migration
Message = Failed to copy the image provider store out of the image.

Is there still any way for me to update my Windows10? I would really, really not want to do a clean install as I got some programs that were hard to find, and configuration settings which I no longer remember.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You could give WSUS Offline a try. Just get a 16GB+ usb stick and put it there.

Run updategenerator.exe to download and build the needed files. After that, open CLIENT folder and run UpdateInstaller.exe

Using defaults is safe.

Thanks for your links. I followed them up and so far these are what I have tried;
1) Tried SFC Scannow in Safe Mode = Verification complete at 4% then message; Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation)
2) Used Chkdsk /r in Safe Mode, then step 1 above = still failed at 4% with same message
3) Change Security Descriptors. Then reboot to Safe Mode and Step 1 above = still failed at 4% with same message
4) Using Media Creation Tool to run Automatic Repair.
5) Went into services.msc. Windows Module Installer is already set to Enable and Startup Type: Manual. No changes made. Then sc config trustedinstaller start= demand
net start trustedinstaller = still failed at 4%
6) net start trustedinstaller then sfc /scannow = still failed at 4%
7) Upgrade repair from 20H2 ISO = Message; Windows installation failed
8) Used FixWin, a)System file checker utility = crash at 4%, b) Repair using DISM = still not function c) Repair Windows Updates stuck = Windows update still cannot find 21H1 or newer

Start with the most basic: check your disk (s). E.g. Hard Disk Sentinel, Crystal Diskinfo.
Run the manual uninstall tool for Avira. Leftovers can cause problems.

Given the SFC failure:
Consider an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data like any upgrade(with an iso of the same major build as you have now (20H2)...freely available - see tutorial).

If that fails, you would have to inspect the upgrade logs in detail in the slight hope of learning more:

Post a screenshot of your partitions using a 3rd party partitions manager (e.g. Minitool Partition Wizard).

History:
Any particular hacks, modifications? Have you previously use other 3rd party security programs?

Thanks for your suggestions, I have done those below;
1) HD Sentinel showed 100% health
2) CrystalDiskInfo also showed 100% health
3) Used Avira manual tool to remove traces as well used Revo to remove any traces left
4) I tried 'upgrade while keeping my files & apps' using mounted ISOs of 20H2, 21H1, 21H2, & 22H2 but all of them failed at 61-62%.

I will post as much logs & screenies as I can. I have extracted the Windows Update log but I don't know how to post a Txt file.

As for hacks, I turned off a lot of the Win10 intrusive settings, also some recommended settings for Windows running on SSD, those relating to paging file and others.
