Can I just delete these icons as shown??
    Yes.
If they don't let you do it by right-clicking on them then you can delete them in one of those two folders mentioned earlier.

The install made me create a NEW microsoft account which I did (cursory look to see if I could disable the creation of the account was not found by me at the time).
You could change to a local account now if you wanted.
    Either
    - add an additional account that is local & make it an Admin one and then delete the original one.

    or
    - Convert the existing MSAccount into a local one.

In addition to the user accounts I routinely use, I also have spares and they are a very useful protection against the disruption caused by any future user account corruption.

Okay, I am getting overwhelmed again .
I will follow your instructions on deleting the icons/links and thank you.
Somehow I didn't follow the Clean install tutorial close enough to find out about how not to create a new account. Have always previously managed it.
I did the driver backup with the file history feature IIRC as per the instructions but it apparently did not need them as everything seems to be working.
I did as you suggested and created an admin account and a user giving the appropriate permissions and deleted the Newly created account. BUT Winver shows that the product license is to the new account that was created and deleted??!!!!!.......

That entry is misleading - it is of no significance whatsoever.

    Good day Denis,
Thanks for your help last night and hopefully tomorrow. As administrator I can find no entries about Microsoft Office or the individual program in the ProgramData section mentioned or in the appdata/roaming. I did manage to uninstall the One Note entry but when it did so (as user) I got a pop up that One Note was just installed and did I want to start it????
So still showing Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint. I can unpin from the start menu but I want them gone and not hidden, not sure what is going on.
Have a good evening and I believe Cheers is appropriate!

Can I just check we are not talking at cross-purposes - you are referring to things like those shown in the right-hand half of this example diagram?
    Clean Install Leftovers "Outlook"-pinned-appl-url-work-cropped.png

If you right-click & unpin them from Start then they are gone.
    Anything further is optional:
Whether or not they have been properly unpinned, they can be unpinned by unpinning/deleting the shortcuts from their source folder.
    - Their shortcuts should be in one of the two folders mentioned earlier. Since MS put then there I'd expect it to be the ProgramData one.
    - If they are shown as all the Office application icons together within a single one of those tiles then they'd be together in a subfolder of the folders mentioned earlier - the subfolder's name will have the word Office in it somewhere/somehow.
If they really cannot be found then Windows setup must be using some non-standard way of creating them but I would have thought lots of people would be asking how to remove them if that was the case.

The Office is probably showing as Applications not as Programs.

    Luiz,

It's all getting a bit tangled but Glenn discovered that the tiles are just links to the online versions [post #8].
    Nothing has been installed.
