What are dynamic updates (as distinct from a non-dynamic)

I have read what I can find online on Microsoft tech forums, and a few posts here at TenForums. I still cannot figure out what a "dynamic update" is. What I'm trying to understand is this:

If I'm using dism to apply an update to an offline image, then what, specifically, does the green-circled update in the partial screen shot below do, that the orange one does not?

What are dynamic updates (as distinct from a non-dynamic)-update_types.png

    Thanks for your help!

    Thank you, @Try3.

I guess part of the problem is the poor state of technical writing in the Windows world (maybe because the authors themselves don't quite understand) surrounding this stuff. It's difficult to ferret out what this author means, but these two quotes (from one of your links):

This plays a key role when Windows Feature Updates are installed on a system and can be a part of a new installation or an update.
Without Dynamic Updates in Windows 11/10, a user or system administrator will need to install certain components, like updated drivers or new cumulative updates, post initial installation. On the other hand, with Dynamic Update, the user will not need to install a discrete quality update as a part of the in-place upgrade process.
make me think that dynamic updates are really intended for feature upgrades and that as long as you don't intend to get the new version of Windows (e.g., you need to stay on a selected LTS version), then you always want to stick with the straight (non-dynamic) cumulative updates.

But I would really appreciate if anyone had specific, technical knowledge to either support or refute that understanding.

I did some reading on the web for dynamic updates not long ago. From what I understand dynamic updates apply before a windows installation during clean install or an upgrade. For example when you do a clean install or an upgrade, in the procedure there is an option checked by default to search for and install updates, this is where Windows will download dynamic updates with a web link direct where are the dynamic updates, Microsoft catalog or others I do not remember exactly.

When windows is installed or you do not update windows it is better to take non-dynamic updates. That's what I understood. And I believe from my reading that they are more for the IT administrator in companies that have multiple computers. To integrate them into an image or to deploy them on the computer park, I don't really know.
