    Upgrade to Windows 11

    Hello,
My computer does not answer the rquirements for Windows 11.
So made a search on this forum and found it is possible, by creating a bootable memory usb stick with "Rufus" and the Windows 11 iso file (downloaded earlier). Or is some other way ?
To make it short, how do I keep my programs and documents if I setup from the usb stick.
In time made twice an In-place upgrade and kept all programs and documents.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Motim

Maybe you should update to 22H2 first in W10.....

    THEN:

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

    You don't need RUFUS.

    1. The ISO file one uses is important. It must be in exactly the same language as the main language on the PC.
The main language you check with:
    DISM /online /get-intl
    in CMD(adm).

    2. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup]
    "AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU"=dword:00000001
    Enable this in the registry.

    3. I prefer to put the ISO in a folder on the desktop called WINDOWSISO.

    4. Mount or just doubleclick the setup.exe

5.Follow the instructions here: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
and be sure that your files and apps are kept.

And always wise to have a backup of your existing system first..
Occasionally, but rare, some errors could appear, if so just post it here.

22623.1250 en-US ISO you could download here:
    HiDrive both Home and PRO.

    Motim,

There are, indeed, other ways. Rufus is not essential; I've never had to use it.

Naturally, you'd make a new system image before starting so you have something to fall back on if it all gets horrendous.

You can run an In-place upgrade procedure [aka Repair install procedure] in which you've jobbed the contents extracted from the ISO file:
1 Download the ISO as usual Download Windows 11 ISO file - ElevenForumTutorials
2 Extract its contents [to a USB stick or to a local folder, it does not make any difference].
3 Replace the .....\Sources\appraiserres.dll file with an empty copy of it [just create a new text file, leave it empty, rename it to appraiserres.dll, copy it into position thus overwriting the original].
4 Run the In-place upgrade procedure [aka Repair install procedure] as usual - [Do note that this does not involved booting from a USB or anything else. Your applications & documents are not effected].
I did exactly this only six days ago.

There are lots of ElevenForum discussions of this subject.
If you refer to any of them then do check that they are stated as applying to the latest Version 22H2 because 21H2 was less strict.

    There are many other ways.

One of the simplest is to download the Windows 11 ISO and perform an in-place upgrade. As NTN says, make sure you get an ISO in the correct language to match that of the installed W10.

Important: disconnect from the internet before starting the in-place upgrade. When it fails and says your PC is incompatible you then replace the appraiserres.dll in C:\Windows.~BT\sources with a zero sized dummy file.

Just right-click and create a New Text Document on your desktop. Rename it as appraiserres.dll, then delete the original and cut and paste your replacement from the desktop into the folder.

It is important to choose NOT to let Setup check for updates during the upgrade. If you do then you won't have the 'Back' button to go back and try again after the initial failure.

When you get to the screen above replace appraiserres.dll, then click Back, then the Next button to try again.

Or you can replace the .....\Sources\appraiserres.dll file before starting in order to avoid any failure.
I found this simpler than waiting for a failure to occur and only then fiddling with it.

In this video, i will upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 11 on unsupported computer hardware. Although Windows 11 has a higher system requirement, you may still be able to perform an upgrade on an unsupported computer. The Windows setup has an “appraiser” service that checks to see if your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements for that version. It’s possible to replace the appraiserres.dll file in the Windows 11 setup with one from an older build of Windows 10. In order to replace the Windows 11 DLL with one from Windows 10, you’ll actually need the setup files for Windows 10.

    Hello,
Thanks for ALL the answers, detailed answers. I'll have a lot to read first.
But now I have a dilemma: Update to 22H2 first by using KB5015684 (Enablement Package to upgrade to 22H2), or go straight to upgrade to Windows 11 ?
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I don't think it matters if you update Windows.

I would tried to update first to W10 22H2, and then after to W11.......just to be safe.

It may will be some files missing else.

If you first upgrade to W10 22H2 then you will take a backup there before continuing to W11.
So will you also be able to go back to a full functioning and updated W10.

Remember that in W11 you have to upgrade your self with an ISO when there is some new builds, you do got defender updates directly.

It doesn't make any difference as Win 11 will replace Win 10, 21h2 or 22h2.

Things can go wrong so, as already mentioned, do a drive image before you start. Better be safe than sorry.
