There is no evidence for that expectation.
If Windows 10 is anything to go by then there might well be a Version that cannot be updated to but there is no evidence for that yet.

Feature updates have not been offered to non-compliant computers.
They have had to be updated from an ISO using the Repair install [In-place update] procedure.

I'm not trying to talk you into updating to windows 11. I have only updated one computer, for which I had no other use, in order to learn about Windows 11.

I've been running Windows 11 on an unsupported test machine since it was first released, upgraded from its Windows 10. This machine fails compatibility on multiple counts, Legacy bios, MBR install, only TPM 1.2, and a 1st gen Intel i5.

It has received all the cumulative updates without any problem. When my supported devices were offered the Win11 22H2 feature update and it wasn't I successfully performed an in-place upgrade using an ISO and a simple workaround. Nothing is broken....

I don't expect that to change any time soon. I have another unsupported laptop (hasn't even got a TPM) that is currently running the latest Windows 11 Insider Beta build 22623.1250 without issues.

So yes it might work fine for many but personally I'd rather wait until I need a new PC.

One of the simplest is to download the Windows 11 ISO and perform an in-place upgrade. As NTN says, make sure you get an ISO in the correct language to match that of the installed W10.

Important: disconnect from the internet before starting the in-place upgrade. When it fails and says your PC is incompatible you then replace the appraiserres.dll in C:\Windows.~BT\sources with a zero sized dummy file.

Just right-click and create a New Text Document on your desktop. Rename it as appraiserres.dll, then delete the original and cut and paste your replacement from the desktop into the folder.

It is important to choose NOT to let Setup check for updates during the upgrade. If you do then you won't have the 'Back' button to go back and try again after the initial failure.

When you get to the screen above replace appraiserres.dll, then click Back, then the Next button to try again.

I just used this method on my 2015 Lenovo Laptop using an AMD A10-5750M CPU and no TPU. Looking good so far. I went to the MS Store and it updated a pile of apps. I use this Laptop when I travel for pleasure as I retired in 2006. Now running Windows 11 Pro 22H2 Build 22621.525.

I Used Macrium to make an image and just now I got 6 updates and am now on Build 22621.1194.
