Windows does NOT see the HDD when trying to build

I have a HP Envy laptop that was running windows, post a windows update it basically died and got an error and would not boot.

So i am trying to do a clean install of windows via the USB.

I can boot off the USB but when I go to choose where to install windows it does NOT see a hard drive at all. It's blank.

    Any ideas?

    TIA Bart

    The hdd may be faulty.
Redo a windows installation media with the windows creation tool.

The media is fine I built 2 laptops with it just the other day.

I've seen this before with windows with brand new drives.

I'm sure it's some sort of driver issue but no idea what or how to solve

Yes it could be a driver problem.
If it's wrong with the raid driver or you can't find it, you go to the bios and set the sata setting to ahci instead of raid.

On the hp web page of your laptop you will find the raid driver.

    - - - Updated - - -

If it's an .exe then you extract with 7-zip.

And you could also check the drive in Device Manager..

Can't get into device manager as I can't build the machine.

I don't see a Sata setting in the bios

I can try finding the RAID driver

In the bios there should be the sata parameter.
If it's the same bios display as my dell laptop, it's there and you have to go through all the tree structure on the left. I'm not in front of the laptop so I can't watch right now.
