    Unregister Update

OK, Windows has been bugging me for days about upgrading. I keep rolling the time for another couple days. Not quite sure that I want to upgrade right now. I want to wait for a few months to see what problems others have and see what the fixes are.

I followed the tutorial: Get Windows 10 app - Cancel Reservation for Free Upgrade to Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums And unregistered. Well, I took a look in Action Center and see this.

What now? Do I dare reboot? As I said, I do not want to upgrade at this time. Is there a way around this?

    TIA

You simply remove the Windows 10 updates.

There are only a few, my list is on my Windows 7 drive, but others will list the updates you must uninstall, when they pop back up again in windows update, just right click on each and hide it.

You must have clicked on Get Windows 10, it does not do it by itself, even if you reserve it you still have to tell the PC to do the upgrade.

What worked for me was running the Disable_Get_Windows_10.reg file in option #3 of the linked thread: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/6...s-7-8-1-a.html

Well, I did all of that. Guess what? Upon reboot, 10 installed anyway.

How are you getting along with 10 Odos270?

I believe you can revert back to the previous OS but that must be done within 30 days so you've got a little time yet. W10 isn't that much different, some things are no longer within the users control but I don't see that ever changing. When I came off of Win7 I felt apprehensive at first, but nothing in the way I use my computer has changed, it's all personal use, nothing work related at all.

I had XP Pro for a few years and when Win7 came out I set mine up as a dual boot, it wasn't long before I realized I only used XP to check for updates from MS. Figured I'd just delete the XP partition, did that and never looked back, so far it's been the same with W10. I was an insider for the last 6 months and found I wasn't using Win7 for much anymore so after RTM for W10 I upgraded to it, and haven't looked back.

Here's a link to the tutorial for going back to the previous OS https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4...s-windows.html

I did options 3 and 4. I ran the reg file. And uninstalled KB3035583. Then I went through Action Center and clicked Windows Update. It says 10 is ready to install and to reboot.

This morning I ended up with a major FUBAR. Locked out. I rebooted and had Reflect install 8.1 over 10. Thought that would get me out of the woods. Nope. If I could, I'd stuff this computer and 10 up Gates' a**.

I did all that. Windows Update still says that 10 is ready and that I need to reboot. I also removed KB3035583, KB2952664, KB2976978, KB3021917, KB3044374, KB2990214. Then renamed the GWX folder. Also, I did a search of C and there is no gwx.exe. I then did a search of C for GWX and deleted everything that was found. There were Prefetch files and some .js files. All deleted.

Are you still running Win7? If so, this link from the Win7 forums might fix the problem: https://www.google.com/url?q=http://...h9h0prv0Vvm7Jw
