    windows to go

What are all of the steps to make a Windows To Go image that can run from a Ventoy USB Stick? I am not trying to make the plain Windows To Go that requires a Windows 10 ISO, and has no personal files in it. I am trying to make a Windows To Go that copies your existing installation, and the finish product contains your personal files and applications.

To my knowledge, it is not possible. You can do a "clean install" Windows To Go (which will not work with Ventoy) and it will run just like a Windows installation, but you have to start with a clean install.

The Pro version of aomei partition can do it using existing installation. As far as I know, the expected target is a usb stick from which it boots directly.

Doesn't ventoy use iso files ? That is something different. I expect it needs a bootable wim inside the iso which runs from ram.
You would have to ask the people at ventoy.

I did what you said, and it does not boot into Windows.

To answer your question, Ventoy can use ISO, WIM, IMG, VHD(x), EFI files.

Could someone please create a WinToGo based on Aomei Partition Assistant, put that into Ventoy, and if it works, post your steps?

Hope this sheds some light for you.

How to clone existing Windows to USB or Thunderbolt drive as a Windows To Go Workspace?

With WinToUSB you can clone the existing system to a remote drive and boot from it on any system. Check the link in my post #5 for a how-to. I am in the process of cloning my system to a remote drive as I'm typing now. When it's done I'll boot from the clone and post here. That'll be about 1.5 hours.

The op wants to use ventoy. Though wintogo can be created from an installed os ( e.g with aomei partition assistant or other tools ) I don't know if it is possible to use ventoy in conjunction.

I doubt it for reasons I already stated, but ask the ventoy team because they will know best.

I expect it needs a bootable wim inside the iso which runs from ram.
