Using VMware Free Player, at the appropriate point in the process do I just point it to the Win 10 iso file I downloaded? Or does that file have to be unzipped (or whatever the correct term is)? Thanks.

Its running on VMPlayer and the tolls(oops...TOOLS) installed without a hitch. Got lucky I'm sure.

Just point it to that ISO, it won't recognize the OS so just press next,
Then you select windows, and windows 8 for 32bit (or the windows 8 x64 if you're installing the 64 bit) then next,
Give it a name and a place to live, I chose the default place to store it, then next,
Then size your virtual partition, it will default to 60 but you can shrink that, and dot the store as a single file, then next,
Then click the customize hardware,
And since I already talked to you about how much RAM, just slide it to 2GB and the close,
Then you will be back to this window,
Just click play virtual machine and the install will continue, just like a https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1...n-install.html
You'll get a yellow bar across the bottom to install VMware tools, just wait till the install is finished before doing that.
I'm sure you can figure out the rest though.
You can also do the following:

There was no issues with installing Vmware Player version 6.0.1 build-1379776. The display is just fine, with or without the Vmware tools:
Just to confirm I have installed 10 3 times in Workstaion 10.0.3 build-1895310. A 32 bit version which I gave 3GB and the Enterprise Version with Windows to Go 64 bit and the Add features to Windows 10 64 Bit Tech Preview. I also added Windows media ceter to the Tech Preview but have not tested any of the media center yet. So far so good. I think most of the issues are bad downloads when the installation fails completely.
