Software required to create external SSD or USB drive for Win10?

Downloaded the Win10 v22H2 iso, but unsure what other software is required to create a persistent external SSD drive (through USB3) or a high speed 3.1 or 3.2 USB key?

Your question does not make sense?

Are you trying to create a Windows To Go drive?

All Windows to Go drives have persistence.

Didn't know what it was called. Read up on Windows To Go but looking for more detailed info on how to use it.

At the moment I have no Windows 10 installed on my desktop. I have an external SSD drive, on which I want to install it.

I thought that I can install it directly through the USB ports, Using one USB port for the Windows.iso, and another for the external SSD drive. But the drivers are missing.

OPs issue is it seems they do not have Windows so cannot use tools like wintousb or rufus (dreadfully slow) to create a WTG drive in first place.

It is not clear how OP got iso if no windows 10 on pc - maybe an older version or Linsucks perhaps.

Create a standard Windows USB installation flash drive from the ISO file. It will only need to be an 8 GB flash drive. Then you can boot just about any computer from it and then you can manually create a Windows to Go installation on a USB SSD or HDD using nothing but commands you can run while booted from the Windows USB installation flash drive.

Thanks for all the replies, knowing that you are all helping me blind. Your help is needed with the proper strategy to install Windows. There is no hurry and this is not an emergency situation. This is how the situation stands now.

I removed the external SATA SSD from its box, and installed it in the desktop to simplify recognition and installation. There is plenty of space, power, connections.

I have a working Windows live USB, 22H2. It boots, but on installation it is asking for, and cannot find a USB driver? I directed it to the Windows INF folder, it searched for some 5 minutes until I stopped it.

I propose to suspend this post until I try the installation with a W10 21H2 key, and will post the results. Thanks.

Is the SSD that you installed connected via USB or is it plugged into a SATA port?
