    Upgrading

My computer has been "Working on it" now for about 8 hours and I don't think it is going to upgrade so I wonder what could be the problem. It's a laptop on a Gig wireless network.

We are wondering as well. I mean, you can turn the PC off, wait a bit and turn it on again to see, if it continues.

I have read that after failing at the same place three times, it should revert to the old OS - however, I don't know, if this is the case everywhere in the installation process, so I don't know, if that is what is going to happen. I would just try...

You need to tell us HOW you're doing the upgrade. Did you reserve Win10, got a notice it was ready, and are now attempting the Upgrade through Windows Update? Or, did you run the Media Creation Tool and are trying to run the option to Upgrade the PC?

If your only network connection is Wireless, that could take a Very Long time to download the several GB of files needed to do the upgrade. And, if the process fails any way through it, you'll likely be faced with doing the download all over again.

A different approach would be to use the Media Creation Tool to create a USB stick or DVD, insert that into your PC, and upgrade using that. You'll have to download several GB that way, too, but you'll only have to do it once to create the install media.

No way should it take that long, what is your internet speed in Mbps (Mega bits per second) from your service provider ?

Can`t you plug an ethernet cord into that PC ?

All wireless routers have ethernet ports.

Is that still in Windows 8.1/7? Or is it somewhere deep inside in the installation process, possibly after a number of PC reboots, outside of any operating system?

I used the Media Creation Tool and ending up with a ESD folder and is 3.11 GB and I am going to try and make a ISO, burn to a DVD but I'm not sure what is the best way to do this?

What is there to extract because the ESD has 960 files?
