NavyLCDR: There is no on-board video on this M/B only sound. I have both a video and a sound card with the monitor connected to my video card! The ASUS video card has been working just fine since 2016!! MaloK: The CPU is an Intel i5-1200 12th generation (Socket LGA1170) with 18MB Cache. Megahertz: Have tried this trick. There is no on-board video to connect to on the new ASUS board but there is on the MSI board so I am using my video card in both! Also tried connecting the 'Power SW' only to the jumper header for system panel connectors (JFP1). NO DICE!!! This is a crazy scenario and I am leaning towards getting a new case to see if this solves my problems. As a senior citizen (86) on a fixed income I am trying to do this with as little expense as possible. Do not do on-line gaming, no high-end graphics card, & relatively inexpensive CPU. I am already into this for $450.00 and counting. My spouse is not too happy with my spending on this already.

Don't loose time changing case. A case is just a box.
Many times I have "assembled" a computer without a case with all parts over a table.

It must be something very simple that you did not connected or connected wrong
My suggestion is to read the MB manual carefully and check everything again and again.

Are the memories all the way down and locked? did you try with only one stick?
Do you have a MB speaker?

Attempt to update system for eventual upgrade to Windows 11

I have tried assembling the old M/B, CPU & Ram with two different PSU's on the desk. Ditto with the new stuff. Same results - A BLANK!! These two scenarios were repeated in the case. Same story! So, why doesn't the old set-up still work???? What is the weakest link in the chain?? The video, for example, works just fine via my KVM switch in Win 7. If I assembled these components incorrectly I would understand why I am striking out - but that doesn't explain the old set-up not working. The new M/B does have on-board sound but I am attempting to use my sound card which works in my Windows 7 system via my KVM. Can try using only 1 stick of RAM for all the good it will do, but that too doesn't explain why the old set-up seems dead also. Am thinking of getting a new case (which I don't want to spend the money on!) as the old case (A 'Rosewill Slim' horizontal) has some possible issues (like attached to the case via scotch tape) and the DVD door can fall off!!! If this does not work I am returning everything to Amazon. This will then leave me back to late August/early September with a Windows 10 that does not turn on - NOTHING!! No video, no sound, no power on indicator,, no system activity indicator - but I do believe the 'RESET' button works!! Strangely, early on in this fiasco the blue power on button would light up - it quit several days ago. Good luck to me! Thank you for your input.

What is the exact CPU you purchased?
For example, the i5 12400F has no internal graphics part, but the i5 12400 does.

Attempt to update system for eventual upgrade to Windows 11

This new CPU is an i5-12400 12th generation, 18 MB Cache, Socket LGA1700. I have ordered a new case which will arrive Tuesday. Only have about 15 days left before I will unable to return this stuff to Amazon. Still looking for the weak link in this chain that is causing the system to fail to IPL (Initial Program Load to the newbies who insist on calling it "BOOT"). Thanking you for your input.

    - - - Updated - - -

I have had more than one mention of a CPU and intergrated graphics. Are they suggesting that a CPU with these graphics could be butting heads with a video card??? I am not able to utilize on-board graphics with this new ASUS M/B and the older MSI M/B (despite having on-board video) was using the graphics card and an older Intel i5-4460 CPU. As previously stated, neither of these set-ups now show any indication of being alive!!! Tomorrow I am scheduled to receive a new computer case and give it all another shot. If I get another NO SHOW it all goes back to Amazon and I will have to deal with getting the old Windows 10 system back up and scrap the idea of updating so I can upgrade to Windows 11 for the time being. THANX to all with your input!!

That processor has built-in Intel® UHD Graphics 730. Combined with the ASUS Z690M-PLUS D4, onboard graphics IS available and that is what I would start with regarding troubleshooting. Leave the video card not installed for now and use the motherboard on-board HDMI port.
