latest update forces W11

I had what I thought was a regular update (KB5012170 and KB5016616), but it went right on and installed W11 without any prompts or asking permission.
Is there a way to roll back to W10?
So frustrating.

How do I make sure this doesn't happen again?
Sometimes in the morning I see an update has happened overnight.
I don't want to wake up to W11.
In fact I have no plans of moving to W11, but if/when it happens I'd like to make the choice.

In this video, i will show you how to block the Windows 11 upgrade.

When the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following path:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

Right-click in the right pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Now, name the value to TargetReleaseVersion.

Double-click on the TargetReleaseVersion value you created and give it a value data of 1 and click OK.

Next, right-click the right pane and select New > String Value.

Name the string value to TargetReleaseVersionInfo.

Now, you’ll want to enter the version of Windows 10 you want to stay on. To find your current version, hit Windows key + R, type winver and click OK.

The About Windows screen comes up, showing your version of Windows 10

Type in your version number in the Value data field, and click OK.

I won't be going to 11 as my current computer is a 4th gen i5 (I am not planning on buying a new one anytime soon), however there is a simple program from Gibson Research (InControl) that blocks version updates unless you allow it. Its listed under the Freeware/Utilities tab: Home of Gibson Research Corporation

eh just get the InControl tool direct from this GRC page instead
