Windows installer only contains widespread storage controllers. As soon as you are using something that is not mainstream You will need to add these storage drivers.

If you are Working with Server Hardware, and RAID You are already aware, You need to add these on nearly all installation, very few SCSI or SAS drivers are provided with Windows.

Nope - standard release iso does not pick up drivers for my Optane NVME. I have to inject the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver as @NavyLCDR says.
wow that's crazy, I'm surprised but not shocked that this is a preceding problem. At some point I will give that tutorial (
Create Windows 10 ISO image from Existing Installation ) a try just for the challenge. Creating an image from said installation seems like the simpler option.

The issue is caused as MS have not caught up with recent hardware changes. This issue has always existed for lots of drivers, but most of them could be sorted out in device manager AFTER installation. Problem with some nvme drives is that you cannot install OS unless you have driver available.

That is why I like to create iso of current installation and inject drivers(particularly if a different pc).

Do you think Microsoft should include drivers for every piece of hardware available? Do you know how big that would make the Windows installation image?

My solution is just to export drivers from the various computers I have using the DISM command. If I am going to create a USB installation drive for a specific computer, I will just export the drivers to that USB flash drive or copy pre-exported drivers to the USB flash drive, and install them as needed. This is, of course, after the Windows installation files are on the flash drive.

What syntax do you use in order to integrate specific drivers onto the USB drive? There are a few switches.

I don't integrate them. I just export them to a folder on the USB drive:
Backup and Restore Device Drivers in Windows 10

For a computer that needs IRST drivers, for example, the needed drivers should be exported with the DISM command and be residing in a folder on the USB flash drive. Then during the installation, on the screen where the drives would normally be listed, but is blank, I click Load Driver and point it to the folder containing all the exported drivers. It will find the IRST driver and install it.

Of course, you need to have a fully functioning computer first, before you can export the drivers.

Hi there guys. I'm just after an opinion here. What do you think is the best tool for creating bootable iso files from a windows folder?

It needs to support both uefi as well as legacy bios. Bonus points if it's compatible with Windows xp or older.

People have recommended to me Poweriso Ultraiso and cdimage

I saw the title: Best tool for creating Windows ISO images... I thought of an Easy-Bake Oven. LOL
I don't know why. My sister had one of those back in the '60s.

It had a 60w bulb, to cook things just enough to make you sick if you ate them.
But not enough to kill you.
